Installing New Deck

Ok, I read the stickys and was a bit confused. Someone stated that by replacing the head unit, you wont lose the door chimes. They also listed what wiring harness to buy. I looked it up on metra's website (pt# 70-2103) and they state I will lose door/warning chimes.

I found the Metra XSVI-2103 and this harness provides the 12v acc, but I still loose the door/warning chimes Driver Info Center

BTW; I have a 06 balt lt. No pioneer system or onstar.

Can someone help me with this? I dont want to lose the DIC or chimes.

Thanks in advance.

okay, short story...

05,06,some 07 balts, the chimes are from a piezobuzzer, you won't lose them.

some 07 and all 08+ it comes from the speakers, so you will lose the chimes without that 100 dollar thingie.

Umm... I'm pretty sure he has an '06. No need for something to keep the chimes.

Damn straight 98 dollars is a lot of money. Are you saying its not? 98 dollars can go a long way in a well planned budget. I expected a comment like that coming from you. After all, you are dumping 4 figures into a audio system you will hear a few hours a month. That doesn't mean I don't think its a display of audio bliss though
