Installing new reciever, 06 Coupe, Wiring Harness?
Installing new reciever, 06 Coupe, Wiring Harness?
I was hoping to go out to BestBuy today and pick up a new Pioneer DEH-P3900MP receiver and install it my Cobalt. I mainly just want something that has front auxilary inputs, and a lot more juice so I can upgrade the rear-deck speakers down the road.
Well, I went to BestBuy and Circuit City and both places gave me the party line about having to use the $120 bypass adapter in order to keep things compatible with the onboard computer and DIC. Now I specifically read the FAQ here saying that was not the case, that the Cobalt's DIC and door chimes would not be affected in any way by removing the factory stereo and that I would be fine to upgrade and buy the standard GM wiring harness.
I just wanted to get absolute confirmation on here so I can prove it the guys at those stores because I was highly irritated today. None of them had either harness in stock though so I'm going to order from Crutchfield.
If this adapter will work fine, please let me know so I can order it and have get this thing put in as soon as possible.

ya and they DO have that at both places, but you will need to switch the wire pins, there is a clip you pull and all the wires come loose, rearrange them and plug it in. I had to find this out for myself, retail stores get a bad rap for a reason, THEY DONT KNO JACK SH*T
