Ok so I'm getting paranoid, I want to make a hidden killswitch for my 08ss. Any good ideas to start with? Thx

Also, are our cars easy to steal? I've been seeing tons of Honda's getting ripped off around me and am getting really worried. I have my .40 S&W with me always, but when I'm in bed I'm getting paranoid and having trouble sleeping.

A lot of car buddies of mine either do there mismatch on the starter or the fuel pumps. Others have ran a switch off the ignition. Our cars are pretty easy to steal unfortunately

Pull your fuel pump fuse every night.

Put a boot on your wheel

Put a lock bar on your steering wheel

Put the brace thing from the steering wheel to the brake pedal

Do them all and thats a pretty good safe guard lol

I don't think Cobalts are very attractive to car thieves since they (may) have Onstar. However if you have one with 500hp that may not deter joy riders...
Mine is garaged and I still lock it. My dd is a 2001 Neon base model that's parked on the street and I have a steering wheel lock bar on it at night just because they are so easy to steal. I'm probably just paranoid since I've never heard of a car being stolen in my neighborhood. But I'm from Europe where if your stuff isn't locked up or bolted down, it's gone ;-)

I wouldn't say the are easy to steal, but for a pro, a killswitch, alarm, wheel lock or whatever you throw at them are simply deterrents. If they want it, they will take it. If they have a flatbed, the will break an axle, steering wheel or whatever to get it if need be. Most of the time they are taken straight to a shop to be stripped, so a broken this or that, doesn't mean much.

That's not every case, but when you are dealing with pros, that's usually how it goes.

If someone wants a car bad enough they will just tow it no matter what anti theft features you have on it

As long as you have insurance it's a paycheck and you're out from under the car. I would love to have my car stolen.

Have you heard of PassKey III technology? Pretty much impossible to hot wire from what I've heard... (at least not worth the hassle) Plus most, if not all, SS models come with OnStar...

You are both right, of course. But we're talking about Cobalts here. Most anti-theft measures are probably ineffective on, say, a Ferrari parked outside. If someone wants it, it's gone. But all we are looking for are little things that makes an opportunity thief move onto the next car. In the case of my Neon, a steering wheel lock is enough for a would-be thief to keep moving seeing as the car is probably worth 500 bucks. Those are a nightmare if they're stolen, since they have no full coveraqe insurance and you can never get a comparable car for that money.

It's like a home burglar alarm. Often times just a simple sticker on your front door is enough for a burglar to go elsewhere. But if you have a half mil of artwork hanging on the walls, they will find a way to get in.

But unfortunately most of us modders disable onstar when we upgrade the radio. Our door handles/door locks are a severe weak point. That's what i meant by easy.

I always ran a kill switch on my fox mustangs. Granted it was super simple to install them.
