I sold my system to a friend for $800.

This weekend I'm starting measurements, and prepwork for fiberglass.

My goal for the new fiberglass box is 10 cubic feet. Can anyone guess what I'm putting in?

i just got my car back from a big install.

alpine double din w200 dvd, 2 alpine amps (1 mono 1 4channel), 6 type r speaks, 2 10" alpine type r subs,
1.2 farad digital volts/neon cap, yellow top deep cycle battery ( in addition to stock battery).
and i made them hardwire my STI Driver RD for free.
omfg it pounds. on the way home, with the sound down, and the motor softly purrring, i could hear my visa weeping...

The system I had in my Neon RT was:

Head unit:
I don't know the exact number but seems like an older:
Eclipse 7" AVN7000
got fried when I wrecked it now I have a crappy low end alpine for the time being

Internal speakers:
RF power series 5 1/4 that I custom made fiberglass enclosures for.
I plan to resuse them in the cobalt I just have to make a new enclosure.

Alpine R-type 6x9's the tweeter on one is currently shot and really killing me but no money to change these out just yet.

Run off of
Hifonics TXi6406 Amplifier --died in the wreck.

Subs:
2 Alpine R-Type 10" subs run from Kicker KX850.2 Amplifier
1 Alpine R-Type 12" sub run from Kicker KX600.1 Amplifier

They were in a fiber glass enclosure the 10s sat on either side of the 12.

I had a switch hooked up to turn the subs on and off. They were crossed over differently so that if I was listening to something like metal I would turn on the 10's if I was listening to rap I would switch to the 12". The 10's both died. Some of the wires got pinched off and caused massive electrical damage. I lost alot of my 0 stinger power wire. I am glad that the battery is in the back so I have atleast enough left to hook up what I do have left. So I am currently rebuilding. I have an alpine source with my stinger battery and isolator. I have my 6x9's hooked up to a Farenheit amp, and my 12 still hooked up to the 600.1.

lol well yeah.

Saturday I'm stripping down the trunk, and testing to see if it's even possible to fit an 18 solo x thru the trunk opening.

If it fits correctly, I'll figure out my basic layout, then start making the frame for the box.

Once I get a frame going I can start fiberglass

Allright all this talk about systems has gotten me excited about mine! I just bought my cobalt a month ago and I can't wait to start doing a few things. This Saturday a shop is adding power locks and putting in a compustar alarm with a two way paging lcd remote and remote start. After that's done on Saturday I'm putting in a cqvd6503u Panasonic double din dvd player. Not my first choice for sound quality and I really wanted navigation but I got it for under 400 brand new so I couldn't pass it up! I'm putting in a zapco amp and memphis coaxials all the way around as well as a 500/1 and a 10w7 in a sealed box. I absolutely cannot wait, I'm just not used to a stock system after spoiling myself with aftermarket stereos for so long!

I've loved seeing everybody installs and thanks to everybody for the help and inspiration along the way. When I get everything done I will post some pics. Thanks again!

I have to, that's why I'm using fiberglass. I dont even know if the sub will fit into the trunk opening though, lol

I'm planning on using an MA Audio HK4000D

I think a couple of batteries are on order as well

my biggest system was in my blazer extreme 4.3L,
Eclipse 6x9 Point Source
Eclipse 6.5 Point Source Seperates
Eclipse 3.5" dash tweeters
MTX 1501D
MTX 600.4
4-12" Kicker comp cvr's

I could watch the roof flex almost 2" one way, and the volt drop to 11's while cruising at 60

the stock battery is still in place.they are wired in parallel. my lights dimm a bit, but don't pulse. the 1.2 farad cap helps a lot. oh, i told the shop to jeus the the carpet flap up to the battery. but i like the platform that the amps are screwed to!
i can even let the stereo run for an hour, and it still starts!

Can you advice? thanks a lot

I got rid of my stock sub because I already had my system from the other car. Depends what you want I guess. The stock sub does sound good though.

I wanted a better bass and initially, my thoughts is to get a mono-amp and 4-channel amp later. Then afterwards, the alpine dva-9965.
My ultimate goal is to get a very, very clean, crisp sound w/c i usually get from SACD from my home-audio.
That's what i want... cleaner, crisp sound. Please advice

same goal here sunny... so far ive got my front mids/tweets (RF FNX 25mm silk dome tweet, RF 6.5 FNQ) installed and once i get the cash i will be adding a midbass (RF HX2 8" sub) along with 2 3sixty processors. Then lastly getting subs (2 DD 9515) Also somewhere along the line i will be putting in my center channel (2 RF 4" FNQ with 1 FNX silk)

My gaol is similar to yours but i want to be able to get very loud as well BUT sound damn good at the same time. So far my sound is very very clear but of course its lacking bass at the moment. Also my deck is the RF RAVDVD1 with 5.1 processing and i really want to try to play a DVD-Audio disk on it
