maybe where you work, but around here its the other way around, I will not nor ever have done GETTO work. Many of my repeat customers for over 3 years have come from CC where they seem to love to hack up brand new cars so I can spend all day fixing there "install". but then again different shops, different work. Both companys have there fair share of half a$$ installers I hate bad work just as much as the next guy, have had to let people go because is install quality. So lets not slander, and just give good advice

I'd LOVE to work for an install shop. Do you think I could get a job doing something like that with my past work?

To be honest, YES you could, keep in mind that there is an awful lot of knowledge and experience with a great installer. An open mind and a Fundamental knowledge of how everything works is key, along with as much studying as you can do, its a rapidly changing job with all of the new cars and electronics that come out every year.

I suck at making boxes, but i can dress things up very nicely, and you give me a blow torch, soldering iron, and some wire, and I can do some pretty amazing things

Getting stuff ready for a 'budget' install. I have a lot of loot in my truck and didn't see the need to spend a ton on another system. so...here it is...
-Old Clarion ProAudio DRX8175 I have had in and out of cars.
-Rockford 200ix running 500 mono to sub. from..same as above
-Stinger cap from..same as above.
-ADS PH15 for front stage. $100 from a buddy+ $100 to have a channel fixed.
-Diamond Audio M651 component set $104 ebay.
-Kicker R6 midbass $36 ebay.
-Audio Control DXS $121 new off ebay.
-Boston Acoustic G5 124 $142 ebay.
-100sq/ft Fatmat $130 (I can't stand rattle traps!)
-wiring will be donated from an install friend.
I will be making the fiberglass kicks for the M651's. Build should start in a month or so.

I also have an Audio Control Sysyem 90 Model 11 center channel processor/amp $78 ebay (I like center channels...when done right). I haven't tore the dash off yet to see what is under it.

sony xplod oy sorry for the price of the sony crap you could get much nicer stuff... seriously the best buy around me has all the RF slashed to way low prices like 89 $ for a set of 6*9s that were normally 170 or so the sony stuff imho will sound worse than you pioneer system, my budget system in my old car sounded much better than my friends system that had sony stuff all around with 6*9s in the back... I had pioneer 6.5s all around

sony makes great tvs, mediocre computers, amazing blu- ray plays ( they should since they created the technology) and some other things... all of which are overpriced..

however being an ion owner I envy you guys, though my stock system sounds worlds better than other stock systems i've had... it's no where near what the 7 speaker cobalt system is... having a sub kinda helps as well as having name brand speakers and stuff lol

IMHO i wouldn't run a W7 with those amps.....and speaking of amplifiers; i wouldn't consider them "ultimate" as posted before...however; some W3v3's or maybe a W6.....all in all not a BAD setup by any streach of the imagination; but i definately would either upgrade amplifier (slash series) or downgrade on subs.....

True, but it's the ultimate for my budget

OK how about this one http://70.52.146.75/caraudio2.html

This is the other option, but much more expensive and more custom work for the extra speakers.
