in the cobalt i have the alpine type-x 10 with a mtx81000d amp. haven't measured it yet. the sub is still breaking in.

in my oldsmobile achieva i had a kicker solobaric L7 15" with the same 81000d. it pegged my crappy Db meter at 130 at the steering wheel. 130Db is that meters highest measurement. so i voted 130 to 139 as i'm not sure what i was truely hitting. but i could feel the air getting sucked off the windshield!

JACKHAMMER FTW!!!

they put it in a car on pimp my ride... it can actually bust your eardrums and they put a warning on the radio so when you turned it up to a certain spot you would start to hear a beeping because of how many DBs it was pushing

Ok Im gonna give a very quick rundown of my buddys 98 CL. Yes I know its not a cobalt, but it does ok
200 amp alternator
2 stinger 1250amp batterys
100 amp breaker between the batterys
0 gauge stinger wiring
Clarion 7" headunit
MB Quarts Q 6.5 componets
MB Quarts Discus 6x9's
stinger 12 gauge wiring for the speakers
Pheonix Gold Xeon 400.4 interior amp
Pheonix Gold Xeon 1200.1 Sub amp
2 Diamond audio 12" D9 subs in a custom ported box
2 layers of sound deading over everything
all stinger wiring and terminals

Its done over 140DB but is actually more of a SQ system. You can see some pics here.

200 dB isnt theoretically possible.

The loudest sound theoretically is 190 dB.

I have no clue to be honest. We did all the work the first time around (it was 1 battery, 1 12, and smaller amps) but then he changed it around and had the trunk finished (added the second battery, second sub, bigger amps) and when all that was done they guy tuned it for him. With just the 1 12 the car did 143.xx DB, a very educated guess would be 147ish with the new setup.

i ment whats the peak freq? like 30hz 40hz ect

what he ment was its impossible to hit 200db not its impossible to have a meter that reads that high (and no offence but personally i wouldnt trust that meter)... sorta like having a speedo that goes to 500mph on a ls model balt. It may be able to read that high but theres no way in hell the car can go that fast

Well the PEAK Feq would be in the range of 20k Htz, but I think what youre asking is whats the lowest it will play, that Im not sure on. I would guess somewhere in the 20-30htz range, but I think with the single 12 it did its best SPL in the mid-low 40 range.

well i went ahead and tested the alpine type x 10. it hit 129.2db. not to bad i only have maybe 6 proper break in hours on it. I think i'll be able to get a few more out of it when i get rid of the factory head unit, and have a little more break in time.

I hit 140.5 with a 12" Solobaric L7 mated to a KX600.1W class D amp, along with a 7.2 Farad Voodoo Cap, stock battery/altenator, and a custom built 2.5 cu ft box tuned to 42 hz

and that was my street tune, i never wanted to seriously compete, equipment is too expensive

i hit 137.8db @ 42 frequency and i did not have my favorite cd with me i am sure i could have top'ed out at 142, and not many people cant stay in my car for very long

running alpine head unit, 1x15"comp vr & 500 watt kicker/ 2 x10"comp vr & 600 watt

we had a guy hit 155db and he had a remote radio in the back of his truck, cause there is no way you could stand the pounding inside the cab
my last run, on june 14th, i hit 138.22, better than 137.8, but then again it was 2 different testers, and the last one it was certified, going back august 11th for another run

btw, i been reading some of these post here, and from the equipment list, and results some of you are having, i am sure some of you have no notion, of what your talking about, and are just plumeting up some random #Db# in your head, i for 1 would like to see your certificates of Db results...we need proof

I think I might trade out my Four 12's for an 15" RE XXX. Unfortunately I can't figure out a way to make a large enough ported box, so I may have to go sealed with it.

Don't have anything in the balt yet. Expect that in the future. But my show truck, which is pretty much set up for SQ, hit ~146db. Damn it, was over 10 years ago so I don't remember exact freq and level.

Of course, the damn vehicle had sixteen speakers in it (two 15" for bass, two 10" for mid bass, four 6.5", four 5.25", two tweets, two horns), five amps, and a hell of a lot of work. *sigh* Sometimes I wish I never sold that thing.

i def call bs on 151 with blue thunder subs in a bed of a pick up... unless you throw the db meter right in the box with the subs.. and you only have a 1200 watt amp..lol ive seen a van with 4 15" subs 4 2000 watt amps and 6 batteries and was still only hitting 153-155ish.. no way you were even close to that..

also once you get into 140s it is crazy hard to move up decibals unless you double power, increase airspace, and increase speaker size and quanity..
