MP3 CD's

Anyone have any luck burning MP3 CD's? I'm using Nero software and a Buslink burner, and I've followed all of the instructions, but when I try to burn the buffer fills up and nothing happens.

probably your computer. i can burn mp3 cd's no problem. i'd make sure nothing else is running on your computer when you go to burn the cd. i have the same problem on my laptop when i try to burn cds/dvds. can you burn other cds without this problem?

I have no problem buring MP3 Cd's also. Something might be conflicted with your computer or your burner might be broken, Like Rusty asked, Can you burn anything?

MP3 CD's

Turns out iTunes aren't stored in MP3 format so they won't burn. Sucks. Have to burn the songs as audio files, then upload them in MP3 format into iTunes.

I was able to burn them as audio CD's, but of course you can only fit 12 or so songs on one CD in audio format.

What sites do you guys use to get your music? Maybe I'll just use iTunes for my shuffle and get music for my care someplace else.

Thanks.

http://www.bearshare.com/ is the best place to get free music IMO.

burn your itunes on a cdrw, then rip the audio back on your PC. they will then be converted to mp3, and you'll be able to make a mp3 cd for your car. Simple.

I wrote cdrw because always burning a regular cd can start to get expensive if you just throw it away after...

Works great unless you have 5600+ songs like i did, 'bout half being m4p's (apple encoded)

Better way:

http://www.hymn-project.org/

Converts m4p's (apple encode) to MP3s

And the BEST place to get MP3s:

http://www.allofmp3.com/

1. Dont have to worry about bad MP3s (viruses, 1/2 songs, bad ID tags. etc.)
2. Cheaper than iTunes (most songs only pennies per song, average being less than 0.10 per song, and the most per song i've seen is maybe 0.18 full CD's for like 1.00 - 3.00 or under)
3. ID tags are correct (can be read on our players. i.e. Title, Album, Artist)
4. Safer than bearshare, kazaa, irc, or other warez places

It even has a nice app you can download that you can log into and use to search for songs and stuff.

I get all of my music ripped from CDs I own or download from torrent sites such as demonoid.
I'm a Linux user so all conversion from m4a, ogg, wma, aac, or what have you is done with mencoder. Under Windows I would use something like dmc.
For burning mp3 CDs, I use k3b under Linux, or Alcohol 120% under Windows. Some people report good things using mp3 disc mode burning under iTunes though.

Mp3 Cd

I have never made an MP3 CD before, so had some questions. I use WMP 10 to burn disks. I also have IBM record now (SONIC), but it is limited in the options it offers.

I heard you can make "folders". How do you do this, and how does it work?

Do you just seperate the songs you wont into a folder, and copy the folders to be burned?

Can you select between folders on the player, or are all the songs on the entire CD just grouped together?

Also, does the CD player display any info like the track name and such?

Thanks,

Dustin

this is easy ... make a new folder anywhere (this folder wont be used) then with that folder house all your other folders like seperated by artist or music type or whatever ... you then put all the mp3's within those specific folders and when your done you select the folders within that central folder and add them to the cd as data NOT a music cd

(the only reason you need to create the central folder is so you can keep everything organized if you already have this done then your already set)

Thanks!

So how do you select which folder you are listening to on the CD player?

Also, when you mean making a "Data CD", NOT a "music CD" (as in regular CD, NOT MP3)? Just burn it as straight data, or do I have to select MP3 format somehow?

There are buttons on the deck that look like they have folders on them one with an arrow up and one with an arrow down, use them to select which folder. You burn the folder as data but everything inside the folder is mp3 encoded.

just burn the cd as straight data and in nero you can burn either an mp3 cd or data cd but both will work when done correctly (the caption for the mp3 cd in nero shows that it is simply a data cd and the interface is the same). since mp3 is a file format the data can be read by any compatible source with the ability to read the file format of mp3. The mp3 player in the car is like any other mp3 compatible player, they simply read the file format then decode the data into audio.

The only thing you need to be sure of before burning the mp3's is that they are actual mp3's and not any other file format.

Okay, have another question. So I can put the music into folders.

If I have two albums can I have a folder for the artist, the album, and then the MP3 songs from the album?

i.e. Artist Name (folder)\Album (folder)\Songs (MP3 files)

Or, does it have to be just one folder, with the MP3 tracks in it?

i.e. Album (folder)\Songs (MP3 files)

I hope someone understands my question!

Thanks!

You can seperate the music however you like. If your doing a straight rip from a cd most software will sort by artist and track so you have a nice neat folder to work with. If your music is just random then you will need to sort the music the way you need it. The mp3 player will read the folders and let you know which one your in and the track playing.

You CAN use iTunes to burn Mp3's. You just have to go into you preferences, click on the importing tab and change it to MP3, then do the same on the burning tab.

That's right! You guys just have to go into preferences. Doesn't help too much though when you import all or some of your library without doing that first...haHa
