My radar detector got stolen

My wife took the car to Walmart to shop. Upon picking me up from work, I noticed the radar detector and DC plug were missing. Vanished like a fart in the wind. She swears up and down she locked the doors, but I have a VERY hard time believing that she had the car doors locked at all times. No forced entry on the locks or windows. Can anyone pick your car door locks now adays?

Nonetheless, I feel naked without a radar detector. The one that got stolen was a 100 dollar unit purchased at Walmart in 2001. It holds sentimental value to me because it was my first, and I got it when I first moved to near San Antonio, Texas in 2001. I had to watch my speed and keep an eye on cops.

I just purchased a Passport 8500 X50 blue display radar unit online tonight. I've read good reviews on them. Anyone have one of these, if so, how do they perform? Also is it possible someone picked my car door locks and slithered on in? Or was it likely she left the door unlocked at some point? The CD player wasn't stolen, nor was her wallet and accompanying CD's in the vehicle stolen. Very strange that they would just take that radar detector.

kill the wife, get a new one... jk! you never know, sometimes if you leave your ride unlocked, or running just for a sec to run into a gas station or something, someone can run by and swipe something. the radar detector is the first thing a person will see and they are working quickly, so that might be why the other stuff was left there... they didnt notice it in their mad dash. she might have done that, or she just left it unlocked at wal-mart. picking locks on a car seems like it would take some time, but then again i dont do it so i wouldnt know... good luck with the new RD.

I have a Passport 8500 X50 and so far its been great

It has excellent range with minimal false alarms, its saved my ass a few times from 10-15MPH over tickets

The 8500 X50 and the Valentine V1 are the two best detectors money can buy, its more a matter of preference as to which one you get, both are top notch.

I'm kinda glad it got stolen because it's an excuse for me to spend $270 on a new one! I got it off of ebay new for $270. It's where I get most new things I want. I find that I can save $50 to $100 bucks by using ebay.

If everyone says it is good, then I can't wait for it to arrive! I've read the reviews about the valentine 1, but I couldn't find them for cheaper than $400 bucks. I've read the Pasport 8500 X50 might not look super sophisticated or advanced, but it is the most sensitive.

My old one was those compass radar detectors they sold at walmart 4 years ago. Just a $100 toy I guess. This Passport 8500 will be taken out of the car when not in use. I would hate for this one to be stolen.

i made a bump key for my friends chevy silverado and boom it unlocked the door on the first try....so its real easy to get into a car this way. basically works for any gm vehicle with this type of key

i didnt believe this bumb key would work so i decided to make one and i ask my friend for a key and i started sawing at it till it was made into one....and well it worked

She probably left it unlocked.

My dad got a ladder stolen out of his truck bed while going through a drive-thru at Macdonald's. People are pretty ballsy these days. Thats why I lock my car every time I get out of it, Especially when going to pay for gas at gas stations.

yeah you can break into cars with out the locks all the time... we do it at work ( i work a a dealer so dontt report me....) all you have to do is use a wedge to open the door and use something say like a stick to pop the lock....from the inside by pushing the button or pulling up on th elockk

Used something simmilar on my ex gf's escort. The doors unlock when the door handle is pulled, and had the wonderfuld D handles. A wedge and clothes hanger and 3 mins, and the door was open.... way too easy.

anyway to get bump proof locks?
