The battery is in the trunk, under the carpet so I'm not sure I understand where you're trying to go with the wires. Since it's right there you may as well just run both the positive and negative wires to the battery. Use a fuse on the positive wire, within say one foot of the battery terminal.

You can also use a seatbelt bolt as a grounding spot if you'd rather. Just scrape some paint off the surrounding area for a good connection.

Let your multimeter do the talking for the best spot to ground...it depends on your amps location...

How is the seat belt bolt a **** grounding spot? In quite a few vehicles that's what I've used and had no problems. Not trying to pick a fight man, I was just curious about why you say that.

As stated though, the battery is right there so just use that.

bc in general the seat belt bolt goes thru a nut thats spot welded to the chassis and with a large bolt like that it makes it much more difficult to get a proper connection as well. i mean it works but not as well as a sanded piece of sheet metal that's not "attached"

Good point. I've just always hated drilling holes in my cars/trucks, and tried to use what was already there.

i totally agree and luckilly cobalts with the batt in the trunk make it easier... you dont have to drill just run to the battery and done. but remember a new batt terminal will be helpful
