Google does not have experience with using an array of radar detectors. People on this forum DO. So for the best answer use the FORUM.

yes because internet reviews aren't fake, are very accurate and aren't put up by the company itself to sell it.. lol GTFO.

Most of the speed traps here are cops using the hand held gun which gives off no signal until the they point it at you and squeeze the trigger and then no radar detector will save you.

^^^^ this.. it will however detect it if he's using the gun on a car that is just in front of you giving you a chance to slow down.

but most police use lidar now don't they?

The more I read this thread the more I think buying one is just going to be a waste of money.

And I honestly don't speed that much (5-10 over at most) unless I'm doing an occasional pull.

Main reason I'd want one is for when I get caught up in honk races, but by the time you hear the detector go off it's probably to late anyhow.

Use google and see why the 9500xi is superior..... :-p

I've had the 100 dollar Whistler battery powered one for 5 years. It gets the job done. Saved me a bunch on the interstate on my weekend 70mi drives. Gets plenty of false hits but they are always in the same place.

Looking to upgrade maybe as its started to bug out a bit...

If mine just died right now I'd probably get the same style from whistler just the new model. Not super expensive if your car gets broken into and stolen and not super duper complicated. I only go 5-10 over but its nice to know when and kinda fun.

False alerts are also not a big deal since I live in a relatively not dense area. That and you learn to know what areas have false hits.
