Arrow Radar/Laser Detection Opinions

I am currently looking at this Rocky Mountain Radar setup.

http://rockymountainradar.com/store/5-rmr-8rds

Don't worry I'm not spending 600+ on it. lol I can get it cheaper. I just wanted people's opinions/experiences with it or other systems. Does it work as well as they say? They have a one year ticket rebate program. Thanks for any input.

I don't have any experience with that particular system... but I'm generally not a fan of anything RMR makes. Just an opinion based on the use of some of their older products.

I prefer the Bell or Motorola's myself again from previous usage. Here's an idea keep people safe dont speed, then you won't need a radar detector. Just an Emergency Responders two cents.

TOP brands
Escort 9500xi
V1
Bell STi

Best bang for the buck:
Escort 8500 x50

Buy anything else and you'll get what you pay for. Those are the top dogs and have been tested. I've read a bunch of crap on them, I suggest you guys do the same and decide on your own, but those are the only ones I would recommend to buy.

Escort all the way dude. I could pick up radars all the way. Oh and by the way. Lazer detectors don't really work :P Its a fluke. The only way you can detect a radar is when the officer shoots it at you or in your general direction. By the time you detect it. He's already got your numbers

But deff look into Escort. They are pricey but its damn well worth it. Had mine for 3 years and no tickets.

If you do a lot of highway driving, you would want shear performance which Escort Redline, Valentine V1, or Beltrontics STi could provide.

Otherwise, if you want less false alarms (in city and such), Escort 9500i, 9500ix are both great.

I've heard good and bad on the Valentine One. it is finicky and doesn't do well on Ka bands. The STi Driver is a dream for my next car. I went with BEL's Vector 995. (retails at $299 but is $204 on buy.com) Its the best you can do for under $300. I just ordered it, so it won't be in for a couple weeks, but I'll try to get a review up on the site asap.

I'm not sure what ours do. I know they do it well though. Ohio is famous for its unstoppable patrol force. Ugh. Any idea how I'd find out what mine use?

If there unstopable its a laser for sure...only safeguard is one of those 1,ooo+ dollar systems, that come with mounting sensors for your bumpers, they actually block the laser...also illegal in some states.

I agree that if you're going to spend money on a radar detector, get a good one. The cheaper ones tend to have many false alarms so you start ignoring it and getting tickets. I have the Escort 9500iX and am very happy with it. It "learns" false alarms caused by other radar sources and stores them. I've prevented at least 4 or 5 speeding tickets since I got it a few months ago. These things truly pay for themselves

Mine is one step down from the STi so I'm excited. Its tuned for city driving versus the STi's highway driving. I drive in the city for work and 20 miles on the state routes coming home and going to, so I wanted something with some versatility in that sense. The reviews were great on the 995

Yeah I really haven't heard much about the escorts so I can't really say, but my buddy has the v1 and that thing is pretty damn good I'll say

Edit.

Passport 9500ci Remote is the best one that I've found so far or just a laser jammer will do the trick

if the v1 had a freaking update! it should get gps like the 9500xi, and some longer range and false updates, it would be a pimp ass unit. Its been the same for soooo long.

I like to be able to tell where the radar sources are coming from. Helps determine if the beeping I'm hearing is from that damn "YOUR SPEED" sign I'm passing (Arrows will change from front to back as you're passing it), or if there is a 5-0 up the road. Also, if you're just driving along and you suddenly get a full blast from the rear arrow, you know to punch it and turn off asap. It also helps a ton in areas where you're so used to hearing false alerts. Whenever I go by walmart, my bogey counter always reads the same number (4) unless there happens to be a state boy running his k-band in its false shadow. If I see a "5", then I know to watch my ass.

But anyways, to the OP: RMR is ****-vomit tier. They're actually worse than Cobra. Hell, they're worse than taping a brick to the windshield.

If you want to be covered pretty well, a V1 and a Blinder (Laser Jammer) are one of the best combos.

ya for some they want that, I dont get false alarms with the 9500i, if I did I can lock that frequency out and never get it again. But I dont really care where it came from just that Im in the speed limit for a short time and can get back up to speed. I'm an very observant driver so I usually find the source quickly...like I said, its good theres choices
