Angry Really dumb problem...yet I cant figure it out

So I have a Sony Xplod headunit in my car(model # CDX-F5710) and I know for a fact it plays mp3's...heres my issue...I cant seem to figure out how to get it to play mp3's my boyfriend figured it out when I first got it and cant seem to remember what he did(thats men for ya lol just messin) and I also lost my owners manual(thats women for ya lol) should it automatically read them or do you think I would need to change modes on it or something?? Also do I need to be using a cd-r or cd-rw or does it matter? and I burn my cds through windows media player Ive tried each format but it still wont read the damn thing when I burn them as mp3's...this is probably really simple as to what I am not doing right but Im really getting annoyed at trying to figure this out...so go ahead laugh bc Im an idiot I dont care lol but any advice would be greatly appreciated... and I know theres someone on this site that can point in the right direction...yes I will be laughing at myself when I figure this out lol

Make sure your not putting your music in folders and burning them to disc. Some head units like seeing the MP3's on the root of the CD. Also check that the Music your downloading is not copyright protected. Some MP3's I burn if they have the encryption will burn on CD but won't play in a head unit but on the computer they do.

CD-R's or CD-RW's don't matter. Should all play the same. Does the unit read the IDD tags (show title of music or artist)? Does it give an error upon reading disc and ejecting?

One last thing to try is if your using cheap cd's head units hate it. I would strongly recommend using CD-R's only. RW's after being used a few times cannot read the same way again..

Perhaps you also don't have it set to the correct source on the CD-Player either.

P.S you need a new boyfriend *wink*

he was making fun because sony products have a unique ability to break about 3 weeks after the warranty runs out. also, realize that sony created the xplod line just to offset the loss they suffer on the mobile ES series. in other words, it's marketed solely on it's name.

instead of burning it through windows media player I had to find the songs in the folders then send them to my cd-rw drive and then burn them as a data cd.... and I TRIED to download the manual I just went through all of that in my last reply no offense dude but if u dont like sony products thats fine all I did was ask a question about a problem I was having not whether or not it was a good product lol try having aol and trying to download anything...its not fun

I know, I'm a hater. But seriously I don't understand why people buy that stuff. No offense for those who aren't educated in the world of audio.

It should just accept them, have you tried a cd that worked before? Or tried someone elses mp3 cd? If its not the disc its definitely a setting on the radio.

Oh and the CD has to be finalized when burning.
