Recommencec replacement speakers

I am basically looking for you to recommend speakers for me to get to replace the factory speakers. I am also looking into getting an amp possibly. I do not need a sub, cause I just want the sound quality to be better in the car and I don't need the bumps.

So, what speakers are recommended to replace my factory speakers in all the stock locations and an amp to go along with them? If possible, could someone also link me to ar create a how-to for replaceing speakers (do you have to splice wires or could you use factory connectors) and installing an amp?

Do you know if they make the sizes for the Cobalt coupe? Or are all speakers standard sizes?

Any ideas on prices?

you need 6.5" for the front and 6x9 for the rear

Polks are about 150/ pair

Alpine and Pioneer make good speakers, but generally Polk Audio has the best highs, and JL undoubtedly has the best lows

In my book:

Polk = Best Speakers
JL = Best Subwoofers

You have four speakers, correct.

If you use an aftermarket amplifier, the car will need to be re-wired in terms of speakers

Will speakers without an amp give me good sound, or is an amp recommended? (probably last question, lol)

Amp recommended for higher volume BLASTING of sound, but not required at all

You'll notice a big difference if you just change the speakers and nothing else

An Amp will allow you to make the speakers hit a little louder though, but not much

If you use your stock headunit to power them, yes

It is very high quality

Throw some subs in, turn down the bass gain on your headunit, and the stock highs become crystal clear while the aftermarket subs handle all the beating

lol the pioneer 7 spkr system isnt bad. but if your lookign for sq then an upgrade is nessicary... also if you do an upgrade your better off replacing everything instead of trying to mix and match. a speaker amp isnt nessicary but for the best sq it pretty much is

I am getting Rockford Power Components and Power 6x9's and a P4004 to run them. Look on ebay, they are dirt cheap.

an amp will make the speakers a lot lot louder. I used to be able to turn my volume all the way up, not I cant with out rolling my windows down. and its still too loud for some songs.

(but keep in mind I do have an 800watt amp)
