what I would do instead of a bulb

Go buy a 3in led light and take the back bulb holder off and put the LED 3in in the opening and be all led for not much more than the bulb. Could be just brake or stop turn just like outside lights.

Mine work as the original poster wanted, LEDs added to the outer edge of the Back ups.

I'm looking to get my 3rd brake light added in soon too. (Brake and turn signal blinking)

One more option. Check this

I have a row of leds in the 3rd brake light attached to a sequencer that I made. It blinks in sequence either knight rider effect or anyother sequence I want depending on the wiring sequence.
Also When I took out the back up lights I put a strip of 10MM white leds behind the grid down by the exhaust area. I also ran a strip of Red leds in the same area which comes on as a 3rd light.

922 for the brake circuit and 194 for running light circuit. We dont have "inspection" in AZ.Just emission testing.you can always add a white bulb in each one as well for the revers circuit.it would be a cluster though.

why do all that? cant you jus tap into the appropriate wire for each one?

I used the Reverse light sockets and rewired them into the brake/turn circuit. All I did was leave the black(ground) wired as factory,Then cut the green wire on each reverse socket and wired it into the brake/turn on each side. Then I added a 194 socket in each reverse light and wired it to the running light circuit. Then just put red bulbs in each socket.I'm sure you can just use one bulb in each with a resistor or something,I dunno,it was easy for me to wire it this way.
