Satellite radio reciever, where to mount?
Satellite radio reciever, where to mount?
Hey folks,
I got a Sirius satellite radio reciever for christmas and i'm trying to figure out where to mount this thing in the cobalt. It's the starmate replay (about 2"x 5" big).... I just can't seem to find a good place to mount this where it wont obstruct my view of the road or look out-of-place but still be easy to see and use. Anyone else here with mobile satellite recievers (not built into your stereo or car's audio system)? where did you mount them in your cobalt?

im having the same exact issue.. i have the starmate replay.. right now im using the mount that came with the radio and sitting it in the cupholder.. its actually not that bad but i want someting a little nice.. there is that space right below the heat control etc where the lighter is.. im thinking if trying to put it in there somehow
i hooked it up to the windshield. I have on my left hand side right above my vent. I used the suction cup and posstioned it on the lowest part of the windshiled as possible and put it all straight forward. it looks nice i think. ill try to take pics tom if ud like

I came up with a solution that i'm happy with. I ALSO have the starmate replay and I ended up making a bracket out of sheet metal and mounted it right under the AC controls. where it's at, that small little cubby area is useless and slightly blocks the cupholders, but it looks clean and great IMO.... if you would like, i can post pictures and a drawing of the bracket i made. making the bracket was easy but tedious, alot of test fitting and re-working the metal. All i used to do it was a vice, rubber mallet, hammer, and a steel carpenter's square (square was great for not only measuring and drawing but the smooth edge helped me bend alot of the metal that i couldnt do in the vice due to other bends interfering w/ the clamping.
post som e pics guys id love to see how these looked. I came up with a option by using the cup holder ash tray that came with my car. Im a non smoker so i didnt need it. I took the bottom part of the ash tray cup that fits nice and tight in the cup holder. Then took the starmate replay car mount and unscrewed the suction cup mount and drilled a hole in the rubber piece of the ash tray bottom and slipped the car mount screw throught the hole. Its working nicely so far. I will post some pics soon.
every one shoulds visit www.panavise.com thats where we get our brackets for all of our satellite units. Generally the bracket mounts to the right side of the radio.
I have a XM Skyfi, I have it mounted in the glove box. I just use the remote that came with it. When I am not listening to, I close the glove box. It's okay for now, but I would like to mount it else where, as soon as I figure where! Anyone on here have a Skyfi, and could give me a clue where to mount it so it is unobstruted?
