looks like a well built box. i think it would look pretty good if you made a cosmetic faceplate to cover the front of it or something. either fiberglass or fabric of some sort.

It takes time.. Just have patience and the more you work on it the better you'll get.. That rear lid and trunk project took about a week. I was working on it on and off but I was happy on the way it came out.. Thanks for the compliment

Its done.. These are old pics from earlier in the year. Car was debut at 06 SEMA but right after that we redid the rear trunk lid. Try to make it clean but at the same time eye catchingwith everything being functonal

Awesome, looks good, yeah I would stick with a 600 watt amp. Like the TA601 will be a good choice. But def keep us posted on the progress.

Thanks, I was planning on staying with the amp ( unless anyone knows where I can get my hands on an old school Rodek RA 2150/2300). The head unit is a JVC KD-G830 (USB) but thats getting scraped for a Eclispe by summer. Just wanted to work the bugs out of fitting the deck in before I bought a good one. Did anyone else have as much of a problem getting the deck in? I had to redo the whole trim kit so the deck would sit on the bottom, it would push the RCA's against the metal bracket that sat back there, it pissed me off to he point where I cut it out...with snips, it was too late to run the dremel. Anyway heres a pic if anyone else has the same problem just cut the tabs off the top of the kit and turn it around
The little dial, beside the deck BTW is for a PG Basscube but you cant see it in the pics because I mounted near the front of the trunk as to keep it as far away from the big power lines as possible

I didnt care about cosmetics right now for my main goal is for the SPL.
Cosmetics is in the future.
Very nice car i seen it at Nopi this year. I used to be sponsored for MTX back in 04. Liked the doors. Nice work i give you alot of credit. Look in my photos and you will see my old beetle that had a very nice install in it. I had it set up for SQ.

How come you went with 5.25 components in the front and not 6.5 components? Did you have to get a bracket for the 6.5's in the back to fit where the 6/9's were?

I have yet to put them in but yes there is a bracket thats needed, you can get them from a place online called global electronics, I think I have mine from a local shop. What I really want to do is modify a set of kick panel enclosures (spelling..its late) to fit between the seat and the window ontop of the deck lid, but I just can't dedicate the time needed to figure it out.
Why the change? I am not a fan of 6x9's and the 6.5-5.25/1" combo has just the right amount of midbass/high's for me. besides I have yet to see an IASCA winner sporting 6x9's
EDIT- I couldn't find them at global but here is a link to the adapters

After looking I found that the MB Quartz are too hard to find so I went with the Infinity refeerence series for the back deck lid. I also mounted them right in the deck lid rather than in the 6x9 openings for 2 reasons 1) un-ubstructed sound 2) the added wieght helps to reduce deck lid vibrations. At the same time I put foam weather stripinp along the edge of the whole back window area, removed the SAT radio unit that sits on the deck lid and placed a 2 inch layer of foam over the entire area. I also put tway tape in the front where the back seat rests against, to hold the plastic moldings in place the end result is a rattle free trunk
Note: To anyone who had the same problem of your rear view mirror not staying up due to bass, shoving weather striping in the gap at the base of the back window takes 75%of this away, it should also help for those of you that have headliner rattles as the air and vibrations travel up through the gap following the contour of the car
Next up, front doors, not looking forward to it, once there in I have a old school Kenwood KAC 943 4 channel amp to run the whole front sound stage
