The stock system is pretty good for a factory stereo. But it just doesn't cut it if your used to high powered after-market stereos.

You asking me? (I know there is someone on here that is "ss supercharged") I've heard of the sealed in a ported, most of the time it's called Bandpass, unless there is a different design your thinking of? Bandpass is a limited output setup though, very narrow range of great output.
no not a bandpass an actual box that can be converted from sealed to ported. See im going to have a box thats ported thru the rear deck. and because of the extreme spl even the XXX's will make (but im having a comp only setup as well) i like to brace the box heavily. So my idea is find out how much space is required for a sealed box and where that is make a ring brace. But have a removable plexi or mdf piece attached. So with the plexi its a sealed box without its a ported (mind u ports are behind this area)
Only problems im seeing is im going to have to have 2 removable parts of the box (the first the change from sealed to ported and the second to remove the first piece. And im concerned with being able to get the first piece thru the second

So you looking to build a Ported Box (sized and ported to the recomended sizes) with the ports on the back of the box and a cut in the box that you can put a blocker in and cut the size of the box down (to recomended Sealed box size)
Seems reasonable, other then you'll never get a removable piece to seal air tight with that kindof force....But I see what your going for.
I'll add a picture in a min of what I think your going for....

sorta like that but not really
heres an example of a ring brace

its a lil fancy with the circle in the middle of it for more support but u get the idea.
So replace that with a window or mdf piece like the outer chamber of a bandpass box and your got a "convertable" box

huh? the terminals are going to have to be on the back piece or possibly the side. either way its wiring thru the sealed to ported piece that scares me
oh ya did u see the bottom of my sig... im excited

I mean why do the terminals have to be on the back, or somewhere that you wire thru the moveable piece?you could always double layer the wood and run a piece of Copper inbetween the pieces from the back to the front chamber.
