stock alarm help

Question stock alarm help

I just bought my car a few days ago which now im broke till next month to buy a better alarm system..now the only think works are the locking, trunk release and panic button but to unlock the car doesnt work..for now I have to mauanly lock the car but really want somethimg as for an alarm working for the mean time..is there something I need to get re-set at the dealership or something simple I can fix?

if you lock the car with the power locks the alarm will set. You just have to deal with it going off everytime you open the car as the "unlock" button on the fob doesnt work.

Might be able to stick a piece of foil under the button to see if that helps. My fob hasn't worked in months and I don't really plan on getting it replaced so it can break again.

Take apart the remote and clean all of the contacts with rubbing alcohol.
Always works with my GM remotes.

On my last ss both key fobs stopped working in the same way. Alcohol works but once the key fob stopped working entirely it was because the battery contact had broke its solder from where it attaches to the board. Just some careful soldering and it would be like new.

i did that and it turned around and broke again... so now it has the quick fix i had at that time, a piece of cardboard from a pack of cigarettes to push everything together... its been working fine ever sense...

I used my soudering(spelling?) gun on the broken battery contacts and put it all back together. Both my fobs work just fine now.
Harbor Freight should have everything you would need for less than $20 I'd imagine.

you can get replacement buttons for the fob for about 6 bucks shipped on feebay. my buttons were wore out and cleaning them didn't help. new buttons did the trick

U have to push lock button twice to set the alarm, once is just door lock, which is y it beeps on 2 pushes and not on one
