Swapping out stock radios

My car is an 06 LT with just a regular cd player and it has steering wheel controls.

I want to keep the car more or less stock but i really want a cd player that will play mp3's. Can i just get any other cd player from a cobalt on ebay that plays mp3's and throw it in? I don't know if there are any functions that are specific to my model year that i would lose by doing this. I don't know if they are all wired and mounted the same also.

if you get an aftermarket deck you will need to get the adaptor to use your steering wheel controls. But I think the new 07's have mp3 cap....if you want a stock look

if u get another radio u must get it reprogrammed at a chevy dealer.... and all 05-06 radios can be changed plug and play so dont get an 07 radio. lastly you can keep the black face off your radio if you wanted it to match (assuming u bought the silver one)
