18.) I want to replace my speakers what sizes are they and how do i do it?

All cobalts have the same speakers. 6.5" in the front door and 6X9 in the rear deck. For the cobalts with the pioneer package the speaker is just held on via 4 screws and can be replaced easily. For the non pioneer people the stock speaker is actually built into the braket that is bolted on the door. To my knowledge you cant order the ones that come in the pioneer package (that would be too easy) so you must fabricate something yourself. A piece of wood is normally what i would use. Cut to the size of the stock speaker/bracket thing with a speaker cutout.

I actually found these online and have purchases a pair but not yet received. This should probably be added to the parts and/or FAQs, unless someone knows something about these that I don't

you want to fuse tap the sunroof or wiper fuse for the red acc wire. Most of the time you wil retain the rap so the stereo stays on for the extra 10 mins but on some of the ls/lt models they didnt. No real explanation because i havent found a pattern yet

regarding the window crank... tool can be found at checker or someplace like that
http://www.ehow.com/how_2112895_.html

regarding the rear deck start with the C pillars and then the clips on the front of the dash. It should be able to lift up from there. Sliding it out will still be a bit of a bitch unless you want to take off those top quarter panel pieces too

Dont know if this has been covered, I already spliced into all the stock speakers from an aftermarket amp. I am having trouble getting to the sub. Which wires would i need to splice into to connect the sub to an aftermarket amp.

any chance you can be a bit more specific?

are you looking for a place to tap for the LOC and add aftermarket amp to the sub?
is the sub stock or aftermarket?

alright i got my new kenwood ddx512 installed with the gmos lan 04, now how would i put in an aftermarket amp and sub? i'd like to be able to plug the amp right into the hu so that i can control the sub from there but with the factory pioneer setup the rca hook-up is for both the rear speakers and sub

in that case you need 2 1m 2f y splitters. You would run the gm lan 04 off the front outputs using the splitters and run the sub off the rear/sub outputs

So i got my harness to install a aftermarket stereo in the cobalt. The harness that i got to connect to factory harness is on the left and the harness for the aftermarket stereo is on the right. I got the battery(yellow wire) and the ground(black wire) connected as you see in the picture. But now im stuck and i dont know which is the ignition switch since theres no red wire on the harness to the left. I tried putting the red wire to the blues and the stereo still wouldnt turn on. When purchasing the harness i also got this long red wire, as you see at the bottom of the pic, is that what the problem is? if so where does it go and how?

ill assume you have an 05-06, not only is that the wrong harness (speaker wires are pinned differently) that long red wire goes to the fuse box via fuse tap/ add a fuse. your going to want to tap the wiper or sunroof fuse

depends on what you consider work. It will plug in and turn the radio on. but you wont get any sound unless you repin the speaker wires or buy the right one (light blue color)

if ur wanting to power the stock sub with an aftermarket amp justcut off the connector on the top of the box. there should be 2 red wires and 2 black ones. with a mulitmeter test a red and black until u get 2 ohms, thats one coil the other red and black is the other coil

to answer a question i recently was asked

0.) How can i retain Onstar in my 05-06 cobalt?
Keeping onstar in the 05-06 vehicles is a little difficult but it can be done. Read the thread below for more info

Okie so I got the Metra GMOS-LAN-04 and a Pioneer Avic-F900BT.

I got the Pioneer harness connected to the Metra.

Where im stuck at is how do I get sound????????

The Metra doesnt have speaker wire conections coing out of it.

The Pioneer harness does.

However the Metra has 4 RCA Cables that in the instructions say to connect to Left Rear RCA, Left Front RCA, Right Rear RCA, Right Front RCA.

Where Do I connect these to? as Im assuming this is my speaker wire

If you have the metra harness then I will assume you have the Pioneer system in your car.
The RCA's from the harness (metra) plug into the the RCA preouts on the back of the new Pioneer HU you have .
Take the speaker connections that come of the Pioner HU you bought and tape them off and forget about them .
The RCA's on the Metra harness are there so after market HU can interface with the stock amplifier, which is what is going to power your speakers

On the side of the black box in the middle of the Metra harness there is a small dial. This is your volume control is sets the limit for the volume on the whole stereo, which from now on will include your warning chimes.

Thanx. I guess the only Confusing part now is that the Green,Purple, white, brown are all single wire RCA's

What is left and right on the Pioneer side of things. red or White
