If you dont care about messing up the factory speakers on the non pioneer speakers, you can do what I did, which is break all of the plastic connectors off the back which hold the speaker to the bracket then cut the gasket part of the speaker with a razor knife so that a new speaker can be installed with the factory brackets. Then drill holes around where the gasket was since theres a lip that runs around. I have 5 1/2s up front, so they fit perfectly inside where the speaker sat, but 6 1/2 will also work, just need long enough screws to reach to the where the speaker gasket was. Definately steer away from hardwiring head units in though, did that on mine and the computer started messing up, crappy gas mileage, running real rough, installed the factory one back in and it was good as new.

Stupid question, but does installing an aftermarket HU disable theft deterrent? Also I know the radio has something to do with the Passkey 3 system, so will I need the dealer to do a relearn or something?

Glad I just read this because I was just about to buy the 70-2202... I have an 07 Cobalt LT with factory HU, no Pioneer, no onstar. So I should also go with the 70-2104? Is it just "plug and play"? Thanks for your help!

Ok, so I got the Metra 70-2104 harness and have it all hooked up except for the red power wire. I was trying to wrap it around the windshield wiper fuse (as recommended) and I can not find a place to run the wire through the firewall! Is there a fuse somewhere in the cab I can hook to or can someone tell me where I am supposed to run the wire through the firewall at? Again, thanks in advance for your help!

I went out to the car and tried to locate the wiper fuse that is inside the car and could not find it. On the left side of the footwell in the passenger side theres a panel with a vent and a little symbol (possibly a lightning bolt symbolizing a fuse box?) so I tried prying on the panel a little and couldn't get it off. I didn't pull too hard b/c I didn't want to damage the panel. Is the fuse located behind this panel and if so, do I just pull and pull til the panel pops off or what? I was originally going to have the local car audio shop install it but they said they will not install it unless I have the Lan harness otherwise I would have already taken it to them. Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for all the noob questions...

yup the fuse box is right behind there.. there will be 2 clips on the bottom one on the top and 2 slider things at the top as well. SO your going to want to yank the bottom first. then the top left corner. It feels like ur braking it because its not secure so there's alot of flex but the clips are still tight

once u got the clips out slide down and ur done

Hey does anyone here have a pioneer system (tweeters, sub and everything) that would sell it, or tell me where to get it? Is it possible to add the pioneer system to my LT without changing the HU and everything? Chevy dealer doesn't know a damn thing about it. Thanks!

you can thizo but 05-06 is the cheap harness so i would just spend the cash and get it. You will need to get acc from the fuse box regardless

i wouldn't do it if i was you... without the amp the 7 speaker system wont work. and unfortunately there's no wiring for it in the non pioneer cars. So you really cant just add the amp correctly. By the time you wire it up and get it working you could have spent the same amount on aftermarket equipment and had better results

Hi,
For my daughters 05 base sedan with the base radio,no XM, no Onstar. I was wanting to install a Peripheral harness for an Ipod interface. During the process I found that the base radio does not have a 12 pin connector, only a 24 pin. Do you know of any other options, or is an aftermarket HU with a USB my best option? Which harness for just a 24 pin? Thanks

i dont think they make one for the 24 pin. all the ones ive seen have the 2 plug. the main plug is for the radio and the secondary one is for the xm going to the back. the module just makes the HU think the ipod is the sat radio and it thats how it works. If you dont have that second lil square plug then there isnt anything u can do with that radio.

Like i said every 05-06 one ive seen has 2 plugs (not nessicarily wires or the plugs in the car but the 2 ports on the back of the radio)
