yes and no. long story short the crossover in the subs amp will make sure the subs are only getting bass. an aftermarket hu is better then stock depending on the hu but it is still indeed possible to hook up a pair of subs to the stock hu properly. (you can even do it improperly if you want to get that into it)

I have a 2005 2 door cobalt and I am trying to install an after market stereo. I had all the wires hooked up and tried the radio and nothing happened. It is like there was no power coming from the ignition. I could put a cd in and it would come back out, not a problem. There was no light on the face and no sound. Tried pretty much everything and still nothing. Can't seem to find out what the problem it. Please help me

cobalts dont have any power from the ignition. you have to wire the red acc on the aftermarket stereo to a fuse slot that turns on and off with the car. make sure if you have a red wire on the car harness its not attached, cap it off.

I have a question. My first plan for my car is to put a nice hu in it. I have a pioneer DEH-4300UB and I want to put it in while still having the steering wheel controls. Its a 2009 CC/TC coupe with premium sound system with onstar. How can this be done?

factory speakers with amp

OK so i got everything i need and trying to finalize the installation of the aftermarket hu. I have a kenwood bt-952hd, wiring hardness xsvi-2103-nav. I am trying to figure out how to give power to the factory amp or do i not need to do that with the xsvi-2103. Any help would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks

it should have a remote wire on it u hook to the remote on the HU. the actual power for the amp comes from the fuse box

Now i am being told that the wiring harness i got from Axxess will not work to keep the factory pioneer speakers with the amp. Can i use the axxess xsvi-2103 to integrate aftermarket hu with my factory amp?

Thanks

Friend of mine who installs head units. He states that I would have to put RCA connections at the ends of the speaker wires and connect them to them headunit because they are already amped from the factory. Is he wrong?

you dont have to but you "should" id put money to bet that 85% or more 05-06 cobalts are running it just like that with speaker wires. the only thing is that xsvi really has no benifit that i see over the 10 dollar regular harness. i mean it has acc which is nice i guess but otherwise no benifit whatsoever. how much did u buy it for?

if you or ur friend MUST have it with the low level rcas then buy the scosche interface

2004-up select 11 bit stereo replacement interface

I'm looking at getting a double din touch screen head unit.

I don't care about door chimes, nor do I care about the FM/AM radio.

I use XM and my iPod through AUX.

Do I still need to get the radio antenna harness?

What all do I need to get?

- Double din dash piece
- Steering wheel control interface

Is that it?

and wiring harness. but i would recommend getting the antenna adapter anyway even if you dont use it. its 5-10 bucks max and one day one time your going to want to use the am/fm radio

There is another wire harness for 07+ without onstar and with out the pioneer system. Its Metra/Axxess AI-LC-GMRC-LAN-03. I used this harness, it works perfectly. The sounds no longer play through the driver side door speaker. It all plays through the box behind the radio.

On the back of the box for the harness it lists
* For use in Non-Amplified GM vehicles or when factory amp is bypassed
* Retains warning chimes
* Provides 12 Volt Accessory output (3 amps)

Can be used on:
2007-2010 Cobalt
2006-2010 HHR
2008-2011 Malibu
2007-2008 G5
2009 G6
2006-2009 Solstice
2006-2009 Aura
2006-2009 Sky
