Ok you audio gurus. I've firmly decided to go with at least an amp for my mids/highs. I'll invest in components later. Any brand will be fine as long as it doesn't look like crap. The kickers are decent and the rockford fosgate amps are pretty sexy as well and the fosgates put out pretty good rms wattage at a good price.

I can't go wild and buy anything crazy but i'll do what has to be done in terms of getting quality and price. Keep in mind that i'm only on kicker ds coaxials in the front and rear. My head unit is a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X396 that puts out an RMS of 22watts to each speaker. So I gotta stay around an extra 25-35 watt x 4 RMS range on the new amp.

Less yall think I should skip the mids/highs amp and just buy a new amp for my subs. Sub setup is currently Kicker Comp 10's 8ohms (don't ask, i bought them at a show and didn't realize they were only 8 ohm until much later) powered by an MA Audio 1900XE amp.

Suggestions? I would also be ok with getting a 5 channel amp and passing my MA Audio amp to my g/f.

problem is i wouldn't get next to anything for the subs an i dunno how much but prolly not much for the amp either. my g/f needs an amp for her startup sub system so i'd rather jus give it to her versus selling it for minimal dollars. tho i could get her to give me $50 for it. hehe

i do have an older set of JL audio w0's that are 4 ohm as well but they both hit equally hard. and i don't have 400$ to spend. shhh, its the secret of managing a credit card carefully.

i feel ya on that one, lmao.

yea i'm going to establish a full rebuild of my sub system. and just power my mids/highs through entry level speakers...for now anyway. i'm not a competition guy. just like crisp clear bass in a good looking package since i show my car frequently.

rockford looks good and seems to be respected. i'm thinkin of starting at replacing the amp and then the subs. you think i should get a mids/highs amp and then a monoblock for the sub(s) or just do a 5 channel amp. only problem with the 5 channel is the sub channel only puts out like 200 RMS, tho i suppose it is sufficient. it just feels like its low since i'm coming from my 1000watt mono

ok so i been searching. obviously for the whole damn evening here. good thing work gives me plenty of free time.

this is what i think i'm gunna go with in terms of amps.

For mids/highs - Rockford Fosgate Prime 250-4 (its 40x4 @ 4 ohm) or (65x4 @ 2 ohm)

For sub(s) - Rockford Fosgate Prime 500-1D (its 250x1 @ 4 ohm) or (500x1 @ 2 ohm), this gives me the flexibility to either run 2 light subs or one strong one.

I'm kinda thinkin about just getting one Punch stage 3 2 ohm. that thing would be perfect with that amp.

What yall think? Its very reasonable price range as well.

if you go with that amp remember to get the sub in dual 4 to wire to a 2 ohm final load.

thanks Emp. yea i'm unsure of whether to go with a pair of stage 1 punch or a single stage 3. the g/f thinks i should go with the pair of s1's. either way if I go with 4 ohm subs to be able to wire it to a load of 2 ohm it would be max power RMS for both styles. If you have a suggestion on whether I should do a single p3d4-10 or a pair of p1s4-10's I'd appreciate hearing it. hell, if this is a bad choice in a setup then please voice your opinion as well. your the audio guru around here.

Thanks man.

i listen to everything but I tend to be more hiphop and a lot of rock as well. i don't listen to anything reallly heavy and predominantly no country. although i still listen to both on the rare occassion.

i think i would prefer a sealed box because i like the bass to be really crisp but i'll do whatever the rockford specs dictate. I started to make a box for my current setup but i've since stopped and will build a custom box for whichever setup i get. i will be open to recomendations on box setups as well but that will be AFTER i choose the sub setup.

i'm thinkin i will be rolling everything in my car over to the new rockford fosgate style. i think they are pretty sick and their power handling and db seems to be pretty good.

really? can i ask why the single p3 will be better than dual p1's? either way both setups will be at max RMS, although according to rockford the p3 does slightly better in a sealed enclosure than the p1's do.

I had two alpine two kicker 1500w amps and two Boston g5s and it was the cleanest loudest bass I've heard in my life... Maybe I'm biased

haha, i'm thinkin your right Emp, In thinking along the lines of expandability the p3 would offer more as well versus two of a lower grade sub. i think i'm going to order the p3 then in a few mins. along with the amps. it seems like the p3 is also better in a sealed enclosure but would you reccomend making a vented enclosure for it or staying sealed?

rockford website says it is slightly better in a sealed enclosure.

depends. sealed will sound better ported will be louder. If you're able to get a custom box for it then most dont mind how a ported box sounds. prefabs are generally ****

haha, yea i've read some of the other forums and they all say prefab is junk as well. i'm down for a custom design and my own fabrication. i just need to figure out how the box wizard works on the rockford fosgate site.

i've ordered everything. i'm now just over 400$ poorer.
