Weird Security System

Ok so I just bought a 06 cobalt ss and they did not have the manual. When I lock the doors via the pwr lock button and then try to unlock the doors via the key (because the unlock and lock doesnt work on the key pad) the security system goes off...but not every time. Though if I just lock the doors manually it wont. Is there a weird way to do this that I dont know about or is something shorted or something.

Mine used to go off when I locked it with the keyless and unlocked with the key(because my keyless broke). But when I lock with the door button it doesn't go off if I unlock with the key. Sounds like something is up with yours, I'd get it checked out.

security system goes off when you press the lock button, if you lock it manually it does not go off.

do u hit the lock button once or twice? if u engage the alarm the expected behavior is for the alarm to go off when not using the key fob. Hitting the lock button twice engages the alarm. hitting it once isnt supposed to engage the alarm its just supposed to lock the car BUT sometimes it engages anyway.

There is nothing to tear into this is how the car comes stock

when you hit it the first it chimes and shows the security light the second time you hit it it engages the alarm then locks the door. Mine does this every day ive gotten to the point of just doing it manually until i get the new fobs for it and get them programmed

It is supposed to set the alarm off if locked with the with the electronic locks and unlocked with the key. Same if you were to say have your windows down and by habit lock the doors and then reach through the window to unlock it. Just the way it is set up. I'd just get new fob if I were you. Or try to repair yours because I think there's a how to on here for it

Your car is fine. Buy a new key fob, have it programmed, end of problems.

What exactly is involved in getting a FOB? Is it a new program for the system? Does it involve installing a whole new system? How much we talkin? Never delt with this before.

Pretty sure the dealership just has to reprogram the fob itself

They can reprogram the BCM to your FOB. However, it is an all at once shot. So if you want two remotes then buy two and do it together. Its like $70 bucks from them to do it. And before you ask, no, only a GM dealership can do it.

Anybody with a Tech2 or similar.
I went to a lock smith with a Tech2 and another device that could do it.
He said he liked the other device better because it didn't require using an VIN numbers, which is what he used on my car.
