2.8 on stock pulley

Question. I just got my order in the mail. Got 2.8 pulley, gm stage 2 belt and 60lb injectors. Now for the little story. Trying to save as much money during this upgrade as i can. That being said im thinking of doing the install myself. Only thing i know i wont be able to do is get the stage 2 belt on the engine pulleys. Once my install is done its going to a shop where its going to be tuned. If i decide to get the guy to do the whole install it will cost me $300. So what i was thinking is do the intall myself....leave the belt on and then when i bring the car to him he can swap the belts. Its no more then a 10km drive. Will the stock belt work on the 2.8 pulley for that short of time? Or does anyone know an easy way of changing the belts

why cant you put on the belt? just take off the passenger side wheel and fenderlining and you have access to do it. and i wouldnt recommend driving the car at all with 60lbs injectors in on stock tune. just do the hub, pulley, and belt at your house and pop in the injectors and harness in front of the shop

If you can install the pulley and injectors yourself you should have no problem putting the drive belt on.

with 42lbs injectors you could get away with that but the 60lbs injectors will be flooding the engine like craz

LoL Your not the only one I have heard this from. Who is giving this crazy information? It will be almost double the fuel at all times. The car will probably not even run.

Do what I did. Put on the new pulley and belt which is really easy just make sure you don't hurt your hand pushing down on the tensioner. Then when you get to your destination put in the injectors. What ever you do, don't try to boost the car at all on your way to where you are getting tuned. Also don't forget to get colder plugs cause the stock ones wont last very long after you tune.

I put my pulley and belt on and drove all the way to Akron, about 40 miles, with out changing the injectors. You just have to make sure you dont boost, youll be fine if you dont boost.

I drove from Southeastern WI all the way to Detroit with a 2.9 on stock injectors and got 36mpg. You will not have any problems unless you push the car with the smaller pulley and stock injectors.
