Not necessarily with a turbo setup.

I'll give you an example...

A stage 1 might include everything you NEED for a proper turbo setup except it just has no type of intercooler and intercooler charge piping. A stage 2 would have it.

When you find out what your car needs to have a properly running system, you'll realize that stages mean nothing to your car and power but just a labeling system for manufacturers to market to the consumer.

i see... but with an intercooler the intake charge would be colder thus creating better gains right? so more hp ?

Yes but the point is an intercooling system on any boosted setup is a CRITICAL part of the "turbo equation". You SHOULD have it. Not getting one is not a smart idea.

See what I mean now?
