Sorry, but there isn't a canned tune for your 08. There isn't even a canned tune for my 07.

The garrett and hahn turbo kits have a SCT live tuner for 05-06 manual transmission.

So, that obviously won't work. Your only option is to go with either of the above kits, and email vince at trifecta tuning and ask if he can tune your car. He sends you a pda, and you ship it back when you're done. He has tuned a couple of 2.2 autos with the hahn/garrett kits, and they turned out ok as long as you don't play with the boost.

Your tranny will need a tune as well, but he knows that.

i also noticed that the hahn kit is for manuals only, is this true or am i only limited to garrett

nvm u just answered my question (above post)

so if i get a turbo kit, i have to get tuned, so now can i still get a aftermarket downpipe, i know it comes with a header so i dont think i can get an aftermarket header

It's the same kit, hahn and garrett are doing this together as one kit.

You use that kit, and then you need to get your auto transmission tuned, that's all.

You have to make sure whatever aftermarket you go with has 3" all the way through.

That's what I'm going to do, but I would check around with some other guys who have the kit and make sure the 3" downpipe will bolt on. After that, you need it to be 3" all the way through.

I mean, I assume it's a 3" downpipe bolt up.

It definitely looks cheap. I have heard of this, but I would be more than scared sending my car to a shop where they are going to push it over 20 psi on stock internals.

Before I ever go turbo, I'm getting forged pistons/rods and a tranny cooler. Going over 23-25 psi like that is begging for trouble. It can work, but problems will come down the road. It's inevitable, you might as well forge everything unless you're just doing the basic and more tamable 8psi garrett setup, which is pretty safe on the trifecta tuning.

yea i was thinking of telling them 10psi max or maybe letting them supply new pistons/rods and then **** let them push it, or if they offer to replace my engine if it blows lol

You need to find a local tuning shop that has a dyno and the ls2edit program.

Since you're not going to be tuning it yourself, you don't need to buy the program.

Schedule to bring it in, and normally they will install the turbo kit and everything, then tune.

You might need a tranny tune from trifecta, I'm not sure if ls2edit can tune your tcm....maybe.

Maybe I didn't see it in your sig, but what turbo did you go with and at what psi?

Also, how did you tune yours? If you're doing 13's then that is incredible and I'm really jealous.

**EDIT** Nevermind, I'm ******* blind.

What was the torque limit on the transmission again...isn't it 230?

Yeah...you can't put big boost in the 2.2 engine without a build...the max you're going to be able to do safely is around 240-250 MAX.

Actually to run big boost you're going to need to change the valvetrain as well. I can't remember is the crankshaft for the 2.2 forged? May want to swap that for the lsj one if it fits and that's what you're going to do.

Build + turbo kit isn't going to be cheap...at least 5k. Not really worth it for an auto ls in just about anyone's opinion.

The transmission can definitely take a lot more. I don't know the exact limit of it, but I've heard it's good up til at least 300 hp, not 230.

5k might be a final build estimate, but even that is pretty decent.

If you're fully tuned, pushing 250-300 hp/tq doing mid 13's, I think that's definitely worth it.

Yeah just basically a garrett kit is all you need with the gt2860rs. Mine was tuned with hp tuners but i used ls2 edit to start with before changing to hp tuners. Im hoping to touch high 12's in the future.

He probably wouldn't want to deal with that kind of insurance payment, especially at his age.

Hell I don't even want that kind of insurance payment.

On a side note, cobalts are really cheap now. I wish I would have waited, because now I can get a used sedan for like 7k.
