update

just an up date.. i got the motor out today... and i picked up my wisceo piston 10:1 comp.. eagle rods, head gasket and arp head bolts.i decided to just put stock valvetrain back in and get a three angle valve job. also need to pick up a honing tool from snap on.. other than that i gotta pull the tranny apart and get the motor on the engine stand.. is anyone running the spec stage 4clutch ? or any recommendation for 400 whp cobalt as far as clutch goes ?

One question: Are the 10:1 pistons custom made? Because from what I can remember, the 10:1 pistons that are marketed are for non-boosted applications only.

I dont understand why people say this.. Can you provide a link to wisecos website explaining this? Or anyone? They are forged pistons vs cast soo why are these weak for boost? If cast ones run fine for a year or so on other boosted stock Ls/t's why won't forged pistons last longer??

Skunk is running the 10:1's and much more boost then most of us will ever see and he's doing well.

the difference is "boost" pistons have a different bowl in them for detonation resistance.. however ... those will be fine

How does the bowl affect the point where detonation occurs? Detonation is when the temperaures have reached a point where explosions are occuring fighting normal operation correct? How does the bowl prevent this from happening? Not trying to be an a-hat but I don't fully understand the specifics

If you mean that the bowl being the result of a lower cr then yeah I guess youd be safer when it comes to detonation but that is not required for boosted appliactions like you said? Higher octane and or meth/water injection will also fight knock/detonation.

i would def use one of these brushes if you dont hone. this is what i was told to use from total seal.

it removes all the cyl glaze but does not remove material. it will also produce a nice cross hatch if used correctly
