I'm through with this forum. If I knew it was all 16-18 year old kids I would have never signed up.
Thanks... finally another 2.4L owner who could've easily afforded the SS/SC spoke up. I like how automatically all 2.4L owners are poor kids in the eyes of SS/SC owners.

I'm with you buddy. This forum is starting to lose whatever appeal it had left for me.

It blows my mine how one guy with a silly opinion based on nothing can get you guys so fired up and wanting to quit. Here's a thought. Ignore him.

Starting to feel the same way here as well. I didn't know it was all kids on this forum either. We all have the same model car and should get respect from each other!! There are plenty of threads to back up the 2.4 bashing!!

30 years old, own an SS/SC, love all Cobalts.

We aren't all kids, not all SS/SC owners are haters.

Should the 2.4 SS be an SS? IMO no. Not because it isn't "worthy" but for the reason that Chevrolet already stated. The SS badge should be held for the top of the performance model. Not the top and middle performers. Make the 2.4SS a Sport, LT-S, or even RS as they used to do with the Camaros. Hell you 2.4 owners should be support this, it will raise the value of your car as it will become more rare!

Wanna shut that kid up... put a +2 driver mod in your 2.4 and show him how much his "rep" means on the track.

listen all, a badge is just that- a badge- I'm 31 with an 06 ss/sc 2.0 and could care less if someone in an LS or sedan or whatever wants to race, ask questions, or just find out where they can learn more about their car. I'm happy to help and I'm easy to talk to. By the time I'm done mine will be a 2.4 twin turbo with a rear wheel drive conversion and there won't be a single badge on it. People can guess what I have under the hood. As far as I'm concerned the original SS is where it belongs and where it should stay, on the rear wheel high horsepower V8 muscle cars of the past. They earned it and it was a beautiful era for motorsports. If someone offered me a '68 SS camaro for my '06 "SS" cobalt you better believe the keys would swap out so fast it would make your head spin.

Dude, I bet you're just mad because you paid 28k for your 2005 SC? LOL

Still making payments on that baby, eh?

I got my 2006 2.4 for 18500, and the SC was only 21500....so, price had nothing to do with it.

I don't want a Supercharger. And there's reasons people don't want Superchargers.

So to those that say the SS Sedan shouldn't be, what about those SS Imaplas and such from back in the day, that happened to have four doors. I think that SS should be limited to cars with distinctive style and increased performance. And what about the '94 to '96 Impala SS models. Everyone of these came with 4 doors and they were bad ass.

To those that think the SS should only be on the SS/SC since it should only be on one model. What about the SS350, SS454, SS396, SS/RS etc from back in the day. Should these have not existed.

I agree that the SS moniker should be reserved for special cars, but it doesn't have to necesarrily reserve it for a single model in the line, nor should it be limited to things with 2 doors. Those of us that have families want to drive cool cars as well, with always having to revert to SUVs just to find something with a little style.

speaking of imposter SS's when i was shopping for my cobalt i saw an 07 Tahoe, Sticker price was 38,480 and i noticed the "SS" on the side

so i did some investigating
i took a peek at the interior, their i found what i thought were just foam seats with no cloth wrapping and a rather plain dash.

outide this "Tahoe SS" the wheels where stock 17 alum.

as i headed towards the back the dim but perfectly positioned street light told me everything their was to know about this tahoe.

seems that there was some adhesive on the B Pillar or door frame. The adhesive said "LS"

haha and these people went all out there was like 4 SS badges off this thing that someone bought probably off ebay or something like that...

just goes to show that people will do anything to drive an SS but only a select few have the pride of owning a real one.

I own a 2.4 SS Sedan and am glad I am now going to own a rare car. But I do agree that it should of never been an SS. The SS sould only be used as the top high performance cars in the line. The Malibu did fit the mold for an SS compared to the other SS cars in Chevy's line-up. My mom owns one and let me tell you it is a rocketship. It is lacking in the suspension department, but the drivetrain is great. I wish they put the same tranny with the manual shift in my Cobalt.

It will be interesting to see what GM does in the next couple years.

Waaaaaaaaa! My SS/SC should be the only car in the world to were the SS badges! Waaaaaaaaa! My SS/SC is the baddest car GM ever built! No stupid 2.4 should get the SS badge cause its not a true SS!
Waaaaaaaaa! My SS/SC was first and there can't be more then one SS model per year!

SHUT THE F@CK UP!!! Jesus H Christ I'm so sick of this God Damned crying by a handfull of SS/SC guys about how thier car is the only one that "deserves" the SS badge. You have no freeking CLUE about what your babbleing about, your making yourself look the fool, STFU! Learn a little about GM history BEFORE you open your mouth and proove how ignorant you REALY are!

In 1970 Chevrolet made 6 different SS models of the Chevelle ranging from 350 hp to 450 hp yet I hear noone crying about how the 350 hp version isn't a real SS. Ya know why no one crys about it having the badge? Because Chevy put it there! It came from the factory wereing the SS and noone ever questioned it! Why all of a sudden do a few of you SS/SC guys THINK you can question what GM badges a car as? Are you realy that petty and imature that you have to be the only kid on the block sportin an SS badge on thier car? GROW UP! If GM wants to discontinue the 2.4 SS then they will, on thier own without any tears from you needed.

BTW as for sedans can't have an SS badge what happened did you forget the SS Impalas from the 90's? Or maybe the SS Impala sedans of the 60's? And you probly never heard of the SS STATION WAGONS of the 60's either huh? Oh I know the SS should only be reserved for the biggest baddest engines right? What about the SS Nova's of the 60's that had straight 6's in them? I guess they don't deserves the badge either huh?

I know I know the 2.4 SS isn't nearly as fast as the SS/SC but I hate to burst your bubble but our 2.4 SS was named 2nd fastest new car built for under $20,000! Take away the V-6 car and our POS 2.4SS IS thee fastest car built for under $20 grand!

You don't have a monopoly on the SS badge, you have no say in what GM puts it on, stop your crying its getting old, and I HOPE they do make an SS aveo!

Best post in the entire thread, and that's coming from a SS/SC owner! the attitude of some peeps in this thread is pathetic. i think those guys who dont want the 2.4 to have a premium badge, are the ones who are afraid the 2.4s will lose races and then the winners of those races will go on the net and say they beat a SS/SC! and thus make everyone think SS/SC are SLOW.

Thank you and your my friend are 110% correct! God forbid someone mistakenly claim to have beaten a SS/SC when in fact it was a 2.4SS *GASP* Horror of Horrors!

Great post.

I miss my '63 Nova SS. I had a lot of fun driving that car in high school.

Trivia question: What is the first Chevy to be labeled with the SS badge?
