Regular Cobalt SS a "Mistake" (article from Inside Line)
Though honestly I cant imagine a 2.4 ever being with much
then do it about another 5 more times..just because

either way who cares... we all know an SS isn't just an SS because of power it's also better brakes, suspension, exterior as well as interior appearance. That article is written by someone who doesn't work for Chevrolet so who are they to say what power numbers need to be acheived to call something an SS? As long as people read garbage they will believe it. Just drive all the models and see what you think is a super sport.
so true. i have a 67 Impala SS with a 283, you could also get the same SS car with a 427. the SS was aPerformance Option and RS wasa Styling option.
in 69 they had RS/SS Camaros with 350's and SS's with 396's so the SS/TC or SC was an SS and the 2.4 was an RS/SS. if you wanna go by old school GM terminology
I wish they'd even differentiate between the SC and TC cars. (Sorry SC guys) but unless the SC's had some serious work the TC's going to shame it.
A guy I work with has an '04 GTO said "I blew one of those SS's away the other day...and it was a TWO door... No way you stand a chance.."
So, even though I detest that straight-line **** I said I'd run him. I spun it up pretty good in 1st but by the time I hit 3rd I pulled past him.
We later talked and he was asking me what I'd had done to my car.
I said NOTHING...well except the 'shorty' antenna... :-)
someone on here once said it the best.
2.2=daily driver rental car
SS/NA= a car high school kids buy, quick but still slow
SS/SC (AND NOT LNF) was more a enthusiasts car
obviously this sparked a long thread of hate..but it really did make sense (i owned a SS/NA at the time)

put it this way does any other auto maker have 2 versions of there highest model...no...srt4-nope-sti nope-evo nope-svt nope-type s nope-Si nope- all of the sporty lines of all automaker all have one kind of model....focus on one model GM and go with it. and do it right the first time *********
You guys are acting like the entire car should of never been made. The only mistake was putting "ss" badges on two different trims. No reason to put down the 2.4 because of what it was labeled. It's a good alternative for people that want an upgrade over the base and a more sporty car with the auto tranny, since the 2.0 didn't offer an auto

And if you wish to get technical Ford has had a few different version of the Focus top of the line models.
As I said before the SS label is not the holygrail of the GM performance world. SS badging of the 2.4 was technically correct if you trace gm's history of vehicles from the late 60's up. Did it cause confusion? Yes.
But why are all of you SC and TC guys complaining? People will race 2.4 autos beat them and then think you are the same thing. Stop complaining! Go up to the douche bag act like an idiot throw some money on the line and run em! Make some money off of their ignorance! Problem solved!
I got the 08 Sport because I did'nt want a turbo or super charged 2.0 to have expensive break downs in the future and I bought mine because it looks good and beats Honda's so that's all I care about. And as for Cobalts being badged SS only the turbo should be badged SS and the super charged should of been badged RS. as the artical said a hp rating of 265 was a true SS
with aem cai, skunk2 4-2-1 header, skunk2 70mm mega power cat-back, flashpro, injected mounts, t/b/s, and i/m/g im putting down 219.4whp... puuhhleassseeee
As far as beating hondas so far ive beat a decent amount of them.
97 B18b1 b16 trans swapped civic coupe
98 b18c1 LS trans swapped civic sedan
93 H23 prelude 5 spd full exhaust and intake
93 H23 prelude 5 spd stock
98 Acura RL (lol why not...)
95 civic coupe d16 auto (dont ask he was messing with me)
07 Si sedan (technically a tie but hey I was happy)
So the 2.4 auto's can hold their ground.
well ive never raced many cars with my civicm a few though, i ran my buddies 06 gti w/ intake and smoked him from a roll by 2-3 cars, amd a 3000gt mods unknown i beat him from a roll on the highway. ive had a balt and have been in lots of others and there are reasons why ive left the domestic scene. i ran a b18c5 teg and got smoked in my balt, and i got ass raped by an h22 swapped accord lol

As far as the 3000GT that was an SL you ran.
you also had a 2.2.
The 2.4 or 2.0 SC or 2.0 TC wouldve given you a better taste.
Mine is slow as hell. But from what ive noticed 15.3 is probably a good estimate of what I run with a barely modded 2.4 auto.
If I ran a b18c5 with a B16 or GSR trans id get walked. Period. Id hold in there for a bit due to the tq difference (around 40ft lbs difference stock). But hed walk me on the top end.
same here. 121K and nearly 5 years later my rental is still kicking. altho its been showing its age lately.
for smaller rwd coupes i was really hoping the genesis would be about 10% smaller. if they ever make something the cobalts size in rwd with 4 seats im in. isnt the toyota FT86 supposed to be something like that??? but then again id have to own a toyota.

I hope GM comes out with a Cruze SS coupe. I like the mix of fuel economy and performance that my Cobalt provides. A RWD coupe (smaller and lighter than a Camaro) with a turbo 4 banger would be a good move IMO. A think a lot of potential buyers were turned off by the Cobalt SS's FWD platform. I like FWD for winter driving though.

Prepare to dish out 40+ large for something of that nature.
thats blasphemy@! kill the sinner!
its possible for less than 30K for AWD and 300HP. its not gonna ride like a caddy, that would be pointless, and im willing to bet the cobalt has pretty decent aerodynamics now. but the market isnt big enought to warrant the engineering costs

Look how many RS models were sold in the past... people who know can tell no matter what it's badged...just laugh when they talk **** and you spank them
