Take a wild guess.

I'm not trying very hard to be a dick on this one. Here's a general rule I've developed in my 23 years on this planet.

Higher RPM w/ Throttle == Higher Fuel Consumption

With very few exceptions, I've found it to be true.

ok let me give you s situation. UNDER NORMAL DRIVING, lets say im in 3rd gear and i come to a hill and corse you gotta use more throttle to get up this hill, now you are at 4k rpms out of boost and if you switch gears to 4th to maintain the same you have to put more throttle putting you in boost at lower rpms. Which is better for fuel economy?

The honest answer is that it depends, however, going up a high you want to be in a lower gear than you normally would be to be as efficient as possible. You might be boggin or waste energy on turning the motor if you shift up and have to mash the throttle to keep going up the hill.

Although, things may be different in an SC car.

I average about 33-35mpg in my 2.4 98% percent highway. lol. cruising at 120 for half and 110 for the other half.

I am also heavy on the right foot to get up to speed... so that hurts mine a bit...

I seem to only be getting 22/23 highway. I usually drive casually shifting around 2200-2500 rpms and keep a steady speed around 80 mph...does this seem norma with 93 octane?

yea thats how mine was. its because of the tune. since ive got my 60s installed and the custom tune i get waay better gas mileage since my car was stock, plus the exhaust helps too. I usually get around 30-33mpg. But i dont drive like a bat out of hell, shift at 2k rpms generally.

i have a feeling alot of these high averages arnt "averages" some1 just put there car in cruise control at 40 mph and looked how much they get at 40, the mpg INST or whatever. No way there averages. my 2.2 got 31 mpg average driving from NY to NC. as soon as i got back i reset it and it went down to like 27.5 around town. i just feel like alot of these numbers are exagurated

Why am I the only fool that seems to only get around 18-19 mpg in a 2.4? Or is it that Staten Island really has too much stop and go compared to other cities? I don't get into 5th often either and I drive mostly local 30mph roads. (max 40) Not much of highway at all.

How often do you reset it?
