if its an SS, it will not have a 2.2. it will either have the 2.4L Naturally Aspirated or the 2.0LSJ supercharged

How about just answering the OP's question....

8th position of the VIN:
F 2.0L SC
P 2.2L
B 2.4L

4th and 5th positions of VIN:
AK = LS...WILL have engine code "P"
AL = LT...WILL have engine code "P"
AM = SS/NA...WILL have engine code "B" (Properly known as "level 1 SS")
AP = SS/SC...WILL have engine code "F" (Properly known as "level 2 SS")

10th Position of VIN = model year: 7 (2007)
11th Position of VIN = Assembly Plant: 7 (Lordstown)

If you have a supercharger, you dont need to check the vin.

you have a 2.0

You have 2.0 lol. No need to check the vin.

You should also be able to tell by just looking at the car.

My 8th position of my vin is a P

I pulled this from dealerworld

2.0L (VIN P - RPO LSJ)

2.2L (VIN D or F - RPO L61)

2.4L (VIN B or P - RPO LE5

I got my information out of the GM Cobalt Factory Service Manual...and looked again...I screwed that up!!!

Correction!:

8th position of the VIN:
P 2.0L SC
F 2.2L
B 2.4L

4th and 5th positions of VIN:
AK = LS...WILL have engine code "F"
AL = LT...WILL have engine code "F"

Yeah there's an extra hunk of metal down by the radiator that makes the car go fast, yes, is good.

Don't tell mkurley13, he still thinks my car is an lt

He may call you a ricer too, and excessively use the word "fail" until it's no longer funny
