We had this argument already in another thread. SS does mean Super Sport. I won't go into all of the evidence since it seems it's been settled... but I'll add to the list:

1) "Super Sport" was actually badged on some of the older SS models, and this was NOT a dealer installed option.

2) My uncle and my cousin both worked for GM and I can assure you that they confirmed SS means Super Sport.

Show me where it says SS means Super Sport. It in fact says, "there were SS cars that were not Super Sports". So anybody with half a brain should be able to figure that SS doesn't automatically mean Super Sport.

1st graders could figure this out.
Speaking of 1st graders, I was driving "SUPER SPORT" ( SS ) option packaged cars when you were in the first grade. I do not need to read internet links or check with my Dad.

Back on topic, Turbo or supercharger as long as it is fast I don't care.

S.

Thank you cobaltr for mentioning this. I was hoping to post this thread for a little discussion on the new engine. Pros and cons of superchargers vs. turbochargers, whether or not people will trade in for a new one, hell even some discussion on whether or not it will use the same basic block. But maybe thats not as interesting to everyone as whether or not SS means supersport or not. Like i said i totaled mine on the autobahn so I guess SS means so smashed. Anyway thanks again.

Yeah that wasn't me I let my friend use my account since i've only really been posting in my regional forum and him being the busy little bee that he is got into trouble i guess. I only made this name to ask the mods if they'll reinstate my account if not than I guess it just time for me to move on. It not that i dont care if i stay or not but my cobalt is broke so i kinda dont get involved in disscussions here as much as i used to since my car is only good for point A to B stuff. O well will see what happens

i really wish i could fix it. I've tried everything but a new motor. I work so well in this damn car its not fair. It shouldn't have ended like this for me after all I've been through in this car. I should be running low 13's on street tires by now wild'n out with all my other cobalt owner brothern that have now poped up all over the place in my area. Instead my cars slower than a stock cobalt, I got a rebuilt tranny that whines like a bastard, Blown cat so I get horrible gas milage, Blown head gasket whihc is leaking coolant into goods knows what in the motor and the stock tires are so worn it can't even handle like it used to anymore. Talk about a fall from grace. I'm miserable. I guess lifes just not fair sometimes and thats all there is too it. I want my old cobalt back I miss it so much.

I guess the key question is how you tuned your vehicle? Sorry I missed your mod list when you had it! I'm waiting to do anything extreme until my warranty expires and to see if it is even worth doing anything extreme! I will let the brave people do it for me! When I do go more extreme I will most likely stick with tried and true products like the GM staged kits or one of the Intense kits. Obviously I will have to take the clutch into account but by then I should have a good 40,000 miles on my stock clutch. That will be good for me since this is a clear weak spot! With that said it sounds like you have a lemon. Strip any mods off and start hitting up dealerships until you find someone how will fix it! That's if you haven't done this already. Good luck!
