200,000 mile cobalt....

Ok guys, I bought my 05 SS/SC off the show room floor in June 2005.

Always taken care of it, regular oil changes, chenged spark plugs out several times. I have a 3.0 pulley, ZZP Headers and High flow cat.

I now have 152k+ on my car and my miles are adding up bigtime every day.

with my new job delivering pharaceuticals, I drive two hours north everyday, all highway, and deliver at a few locations then two hours back. all in all, i drive at least 400 miles a day, and usually as much as 500-600 a day.

My quest to 200,000 miles will be around May this year at this pace.

My question to all of you, what types of things should I be doing maintenance wise? the money flow is significant so any parts I need to replace wont be a problem in the future.

being all highway miles, do my oil changes still need to be when the car says to change oil? or is it safe to go longer?

also, what do you guys think?.....factory clutch and all...shes still rolling great!

omg.

at mileage like that i would probably keep a log of your mileage and change oil at 5k.

as far as that i don't know what else you would need to change.

Very nice, basic things just need to be done for the most part. You must be doing them to get those many miles with no major issues

If you are at 150000+ and she is running good, I would cont. doing what you have been doing maint. wise.

basic things like what? i rotate my tires every 5000. ive been changing the oil like normal.

only parts ive replaced are.... shocks, struts, LCA bushings, and all engine and trany Mounts, ic pump, and gm stage 2 belt. THATS IT.... not bad huh?

my biggest problem is i have never had a good tune since ive moded it. im getting 30-32 mpg when temp is below 55... and 38-40 when temp is above 60-65. its really weird. car runs beautiful when its in the higher temp range. could this be because it's not tuned with a wideband? (i need one)

Not bad at all....But as you say, you travel a lot, and i'm assuming that's mostly highway driving correct? If so, that's the easiest on the car and the easiest way to rack up the mileage without parts breaking. If you were by me and commuted to NYC everyday, your car would probably last 60-70k miles before you started running into problems.

So with the combination of mostly highway driving and regular maintanance like you have been doing, your car will last a while. You're probably going to need belts and stuff. I can see like the water pump or alternator going next but that will probably be your biggest problem (unless your clutch goes but you say its strong) Good luck brotha

oh yeah...i did forget. I replaced the IC PUMP AND PUT A GM STAGE 2 BELT ON.

other than that, my clutch doesnt slip but it gets a lil touchy sometimes when I engage it, car gets a little jerky. feels like the plate might be getting a little thin on me....

yes. 200-250 in gas every week. I tried getting away with 87 octance to save a few bucks...but all i hear was ping. ( like needles in a jar when i accellerate) I think thats ping.

Holy crap -- this is nice to see. So with 150k+ miles on it, how's the power? I'm pushing 70k and so far, the thing still pulls pretty hard

I drove a ford ranger since I was 16... 327,000 miles when I finally got rid of it... just made sure I changed the oil and did regular tuneups.

This part got me.. You see kids go through clutches like a girl on her period changes tampons..

What ever you have been doing, keep it up.

Air filter
Plugs
Fuel filter
Oil
Trans fluid
Cabin air filter
Wiper blades
Check struts and shocks for leakage
Check control arm bushings
Run some SeaFoam through the gas tank and the brake booster line
Clean the TB

I'm just listing **** off, as obvious as most of it is.

definitely. Ive gone through 3 fuel filters, 3 air filters and i barely changed my cabin filter las month. ran seafoam through it last year, gonna do it again. I regularly clean the TB after a dirty one last year made me realize the importance .

transfluid was replaced once.

i lil clunking everytime i put it into 1st gear from a stop. who knows what it is...but its been doing it a while. also a little clunk when i turn steering wheel back in forth. possibly from steering rack. all moog parts going in this weekend.

Damn....want to buy me some new rims? That would be great.

Glad to hear the power is still there. Gives me hope that once my RX8's apex seals start to take a crap (gotta love rotary engines), my Balt will be my track beast. By then, it will have around 110-120k on it.
