Exclamation any problems with ur cobalt?

im waiting for my SS just wana know if anyone else has had problems like my sister has had with her cobalt LS 4 door?

my sister got like 6,000 km on it since dec ( 4 door LS), and its been in the shop like 7 times.the check engine light was on and it would not get out of first gear at all so we brought it in and they changed the oxygen senser then after that was changed we still had problems
on our way home the check engin light goes on again and the same thing happend were it would not get out of first gear and when it did it would give u wip lash when it did so we brought it back again then they said the ingation madule wires were faulty one was bad and burned the rest of them...
then after they chnaged that the check engin light went back on again so then we brought it back for the 3ed time in a matter of 4 days and they said it was the cadillac converter, and they knew it was that from the firts time they brough it in but GM would not let them change it til they tryed everything else cuz the cadillac converter is a 1100 part and gm was not going to replace it till they were sure... then we had a prob with the low fuel light comming on at times when it was not empty but that as fixed by the gas cap was not closing all the way or something....
and now the last time we brought it in they completly fucked up the back bumper and side of the car its all scratched and seems like the paint was buned or rubbed to hard so yet again her car is back at the dealer so they can fix the paint...

but it does drive good but i heard that the problmes she had lots of other ppl witht he 4 doorshave had the same problems but i hope the SS are not as mucvh as a pain..

Any initial release of a product/car is likely to have its problems. Just give it time.

I just want one of those Cadillac converters. That sounds cool.

It should be catalytic.

I work in the service department at a Chevy dealership in Michigan. We have sold quite a few cobalts since their release and other than oil changes we have only had one cobalt in for service. The one was a 2 door LS and the complaint was with the headliner loose at the left front (driver side).
I think the Cobalts are great cars and I am just waiting for an SS to get delivered off the truck and I am buying it. I don't even care about the color.

Now that is really untrue, your friend is nuts!! There are still 70's muscle cars burnin rubber down the road... for that matter I just went to a car show and someone had a 1920 somethin or another... I dont think a 1990 Toyota Tercel Hatch will be around for almost 100 years.... and its all about the driver I know some people that would kill any car!

I thought the problem you were describing about it having trouble getting past 1st gear just needed to have the ECU reprogrammed? I thought I read about that in another thread. Maybe not.

Cobalt Problems

The LS & SS are two differant drive trains and ECUs. I have a red SS that is car number 36 off the assembly line that came from the Detroit Auto Show. So far I haven't had a single problem with this car. I do have a 2.2 EchoTech in an 04 Cav LS that would be similar to the cobalts and have not had a single problem from it either.

Yeah, the air conditioning problem was another one I know about for sure. here is the URL for that link that would explain the problem with your AC. ----- #PIC3315B is the bulletin # ----- take that to the dealer, should be a quick fix.

Agreed. Imports don't break down any more or less than other cars, my friend has a new Civic and has TONS of problems with it but another friend of mine has one that she's had very few problems with. Going just from my house to work there are 2 Toyotas and a Honda tagged along the side of the road going one direction and 2 Hondas and a Geo coming back...so I don't know where your friend drives but around here there is a pretty even spread of cars along the side of the road.

I'm looking on Ebay for one right now. I hope it makes my car into an STS-V!
