Bad News

Hey everyone, just got word from the dealership as follows, hope it's not true:

This dealer said that they just got word today that they are having safety issues with the SS, they are having trouble resolving. Seems there's just too much engine for too little car! They seem to think it could take up to 6 months to get it resolved.

yea man that exactly what i was roughly talking about in my thread. GM is making big mistakes with this car hyping it up then letting everybody down. i dont know that either these guys dont know what theyre talking about or there is some truth to these allegations. The toronto auto show i got much of the same sentiment from these guys with all there secrecy i.m thinking theres more to it than they're telling us.

If that were true why wouldnt it have effected the Redline ION? The cars are in production not full blown production but they are being produced at least thats what people have said that are at the plant.

thats bs, there is no way 200hp is too much for the delta, or any car that matter. 6 months my ass.
GM couldn't pour **** out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel.

Gotta call BS on this one. With all of the people we have on this site that are connected with GM or the Cobalt's development/production...I think we were have heard something from one of them first.

Dealers are full of it. I had one tell me they were producing the Cadillac sixteen concept.

Youd be better off going to a GM news forum. You'll get better info there. Dealers make up stories because they don't have answeres and don't want to say they dont know. Don't trust dealers, they are trying to make money off you.

Ask yourself this, if you were trying to make money off someone, would you tell them the truth?

Yeah, its my experience also that dealerships know nothing. My dealership is actually very honest though. The manager told me I have told them more information than they have learned from GM.

Well, the Saturn engineers have been working on the Ion for a couple of years now. Plus, Saturn has it's own special way of doing things (better, in my opinion). When it became Chevy's turn to build a Delta car, they decided to change a lot of the internal design to make improvements. It's going to take time to smooth the process. I know that Saturn production engineers have been traveling to the Lordstown plant to help out with problems and how to avoid other ones. The first year will be rough.

For those that don't remember, the Ion Redline didn't start in production until about April of 2004.

Yeah I know the RedLine was still designed by saturn and chevy just took what Saturn did and modified it to fit their needs.(I know more about Saturn than I probably will ever know about Chevy just because I have had 4 Saturns and was a saturn enthusiast before I joined any other GM forums) But as far as the performance of the vehicle in a car that small the cobalt SS/SC and the redline are still on the same platform so there would be no reason why the engine would work in one and not the other. I know there are still going to be problems that differ between the 2 models because they are so different/but yet the same (if that makes any sense)

But thats why I said that. I know they are different but as far as size they are pretty much the same.

I dont know if you guys were talking about me.. With the

" They are trying to sell me an LS "

I wanted the LS.... I couldn't afford the monthly payments on the SSsc...

Maybe in 4 years when my Smart Buy is up or if I can get out of this one and into a SSsc

OVER ALL I'M HAPPY WITH IT... FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN...
