Is it bad for water to get on engine?

hypothetically speaking,

say your car get in an accident and you arent sure whats going on with it because for some reason no one cares about you and wont do anything about it. not even get a rental because they arent sure who is at fault in the case of a drunk high driver hitting my parked cars.

anyway, so if this hypothetical car has a busted hood and the engine is exposed to the environment for a few days of rain...will the rain hurt the engine at all?

It wouldn't be great for it, but it would be okay. If you are concerned buy a tarp and cover it up.

nah it shouldnt. only way i could see it hurting is if for some reason it found its way into the intake. corrosion is always another factor.

Wow they still haven't figured it out?

I don't think there should be a problem, but if this drunk/high driver is at fault and it does cause a problem their insurance will be respondsible for it!

or your insurance will cover it!

Tarp it!

i think it will only do something if it got into the intake somehow or damaged eletical things, but anywho, i throw water onto the valve cover sometimes to clean it, doesnt do anything

The two things you should be concerned about most are shorting out your alternator and corrosion.
Even though an engine itself maybe waterproof, enough water on your alternator (if exposed) could destroy it.
Alternators are cheap.

If the cause of the damage was a an accident that wasn't your fault, no insurance should try to pin blame on you for letting the damage get worse if the damage worsens on it's own.
