Bought a 2007 SS - my story
I saw a few cobalt forums on the web, and i liked this one the best because its a very similar layout to corvetteforum.com. I'm a member on there as well. I'm also a member of volvospeed.com
So heres the story,
I have a volvo s70 T5 turbo, and it spun a rod bearing. It needs a whole new engine, and rather than pay someone to put a 3rd engine in the damn thing in the 3 months ive had it, i decided i would get something reliable. I had spent around 8K on the volvo in the 3 months ive had it, so it pretty much broke the bank.
I know i paid too much for the cobalt ($13,900), but I needed a winter car ASAP. Until today, i had been driving my corvette around in the snow for the past week. This does not work very well. I was really set on getting a cobalt SS, and I didnt have the cash for one, so I would have to buy from a dealer to get a decent loan. this was the only one around here that still had some time on the warranty and that hadnt been modded, so i know it wasnt abused. I didnt have much time to look, and i knew this car was a good one, so i jumped on it. The entire car is nearly perfect, and completely stock. Drivetrain is perfect, and the paint and interior are also perfect. Suspension is great, and it came with brand new tires, fresh oil change, and new front pads and rotors. 44k miles.
So anyways, here it is:

i payed 16200 for mine out of a dealer with warrenty, so that wasnt too bad. Mine was also the stage 2 with the G85 and LSD though with only 18k on it. But it is a fun car! Yours looks really clean too and they took care of the brakes and other maintenance. Welcome!

thanks for the replies! im sure if i had the time to look i probably could have found a better one for less cash, but i had like 3 days to find one. i think i did pretty well with the find considering the situation.
i was considering an 08 tc until i went and looked at it. it had red metal intercooler piping, b&m shifter, aftermarket intake, and oil leaking from the head. my guess is they were probably running it above 25 psi of boost. it had to have been highly modded. the thing was a ticking time bomb. i wouldnt have paid more than 5k for that car. they were asking 14,900!!
I think i will definitely prefer the supercharger anyways. the throttle response and broader powerband makes it a lot more fun than a turbo IMO. Also, the SC will be MUCH more reliable than a turbo. i plan on running the car for 300,000+ miles. GM stage 2 and LSD will probably be the only drivetrain mods i ever do to it, and that wont happen any time soon. i might put in a better air filter though. it already has plenty of power in stock form.
im sitting here at work and i cant wait for my lunch break to go driving again! hahaha.
