Brake drum to disk

I have a 08 cobalt Lt sedan that has drums and I’m trying to find out if there’s drum to disk conversion kits out or is it even possible with out changing the rear suspension.

There are kits to do it, they're not cheap. If you have a 5x110 bolt pattern already it's a bit cheaper, but if you have a 4x100 you have to re-drill the rotors to the bolt pattern.

Whats the reasoning for wanting to go to rear disks?

I plan to turbocharge it and plus I think calipers all around looks better the the drums.

If you're handy and resourceful, just find a LSJ/LNF rear beam to swap in. Also need the ebrake cables, brake hard lines, and a couple other misc things. Redrilling rotors to 4x100 shouldn't be that big of a deal, or potentially finding 4x100 rear rotors already.

This is a very detailed how-to: How To Swap Rear Drum to Disc - Your Cobalt

EDIT: because of the pettiness of "competing" forums, you'll have to substitute "your cobalt dot com" into the above link. Or just google it...

Do you think I can just make a bracket that would fit the front rotors and calipers but that can bolt on with the rear hubs? Since I already have the two extra calipers and rotors. All I need is the pads. Right?! Or is doing too much?

I mean... sure. You could. Is it a good idea? No. How are you going to adjust your brake bias so that you aren't constantly locking up the rear brakes because they're way too powerful for the rear end of a FWD car? Not to mention, you'd also lose your parking brake - unless you replumb the entire brake line system for a bias valve and hydraulic parking brake (and most hydraulic parking brakes don't ratchet/lock like the stock one).

I understand. So are all the rear calipers around the same size between the 2.0 and 2.4?
