Cam Install

Hey guys, I was just wondering what people have payed to have cams installed. I have a 2.2, so if anything I could only go with the comp stage 1 which doesn't need tuning. How much should the labor be to do a cam swap? I'm not talking about the price of the cams or tuning, just the labor. Thanks.

well, book time is about 3.5 hours........might vary a little bit depending where you go, same with labor charges. I'd probably do an install for like 200 bux or so.....if I did it at work it would cost about 350-400

Well, I figured that it couldn't be too time consuming, especially for a shop. After all, they can get to the cams just by removing the valve cover.

yes, two totally different set-ups......however, the cobalt doesn't have those stupid inverted torx bits on the camshaft bearing caps like the focus does. I hated taking those things off when I did the few head-package installs I've done of the focus'

still have to pull the front cover off to get to the timing chain Not a bad job if you know what you're doing.
