For as much as I drive around and people see my car (in some places for the first time), I have never really heard anything bad about the car from anyone. Most people like the way that it looks, and when I take them for a drive, they are really surprised by how strong the car is. We have a gem: end of story. If (most likely when) they do come out with a turbo cobalt ss, then it will follow along with many other tuner cars before it. To my knowledge, I don't know of another supercharged 4-cyl. car besides a lotus, and that is in a totally different league. Import guys might talk **** to your face but they admire you behind your back.

i love my car i just am not 2 happy with the chevy symbol on it... chevy has proven to me that their performance backup is gay and they try every little thing to void your warranty... they have tried voiding my buddies warranty 3 different times at 3 different dealerships because he had cooling mods

i think alot of people were just dissapointed that chevy supposively brought out the cobalt to compete with the srt-4 and in no way stockvsstock or with warrantied performance parts does the cobalt come close

im not ******* on the cobalt by any means because like i said i love the car and wouldnt trade it in for anything... ive impressed and beat alot of people with my car... i would probably never buy another new chevy again though

I think we have it pretty good. SRT guys lose their warrenty even with MOPAR stage upgrades. I will agree though that dealers are so cheap/lazy these days and they want nothing to do with our SS/SCs.

2 things id change on our cars
1- turning radius (however throwing it into a corner it rocks!)
2- wheelhop/torque steer

#2 can be changed with a few reasonably cheap(ish) mods
#1... well i can live with it

I think our cars are freaking awesome and certainlly is one of the best performing vehicles for its value and definatly sticks it to 95% of the sport compact cars out there

i was just backing out of my parking spot at the gym and i saw a man in his mid 50's stop and look at my car so i rolled down my window and he said, "nice car, we've gone one like it at home, but not this nice." come to find out he has a 2.4 but, that still made my day because most older people despise the sport compact scene.

yeah the ss/sc is an awesome car, no doubt about it

on the other hand the LS is a POS, just my opinion, dont get mad at me

i wish every single night before i go to bed that my car would transform into a ss/sc, but it never happens. i wish my car would just crawl into a hole and die, i literally do, my birthday wish this year was to walk outside and see that my car turned into an ss/sc

maybe when hell freezes over in like 5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years i will be done paying for my shitty car and i can get a nice one. by the time i get a nice car everyone will be flying their own frickin airplanes!!!! what am i going to do?!?!?!?!?!? - end of rant

^^^haha, nice!! a couple weeks ago I raced an older guy in his SSR....he was a good sport about it for the most part, we chatted a bit.

I went into the SS/SC with lower expectations than what I actually ended up with. Handling, acceleration....both pretty freaking amazing for a FWD eco-box.
My Talon had NEVER been beaten in this town...until I let a friend drive it and race me in the Cobalt I was pretty proud of the little slo-balt that day...

My family has some big Amerian power sitting around: Escalade, SSR, Expedition, more Corvettes than you can count on one hand, but when I came back from the dealer with my Cobalt LT they could not believe that a car like that was made by Chevy. My grandfather got addicted to hitting the pedal, he said he would have never expected such low torque from a 4-cylinder, my uncle couldn't keep his head out of the trunk that was bigger than his Cadillac's, I had to fight my cousin to get him off the radio and back to his own S-10, and of course I loved everything about the car. I think this car is about the best thing Chevy could have made at the time, it shows they are capable of more than trucks and cars with big motors and still have some quality behind it.
I live in a pretty rural area where almost all of my friends drive large trucks with even larger power numbers, they like to call it a slow-balt and diss it until they have to go around a corner or cut through traffic, then I get the last laugh!

Kinda off-topic but how the hell did you beat an STI in your 2.2?

Haha, always a fun story to tell. The traffic is really bad where I live, so the only racing we do is on the major freeways darting in and out of traffic. I managed to jump in the right lane and fly around the guy while he got stuck behind some trucks. I know, it's not safe but it's all we got.
The best times are when we blow by some rich guy and he just goes nuts in his supercar (that's how I have some of those losses, these rich guys like to show off their cars). I don't like being beaten, but hearing a Porsche GT3 scream by at 120 just makes me smile!

Stock for stock I will take my SS/SC over the SRT any day, I do prefer a better handling car over straight line power anytime After all twisties are alot more fun than a 1/4 mile

I agree with all the compliments on the Cobalt's. I really love my SS as well. Sometimes I wish I would have gotten the SC version for the little extra, but that's what I got the bike for anyways. The neighbor across the street liked my car so much, she bought an LT the same color and told me the other day, she likes mine much better than hers.

My 'Balt has never failed me in the corners, and frankly I have never lost a drag race either. For the money I spent I have gotten quite the machine. I have blown away new Mustang GTs (driver probably sucked) as well as more than a handful of 5.0's. Over all performance vs. fuel economy vs. drivability, this car outranks even my Vette. I have raced my Vette (me in the 'Balt, my buddy in the Vette) and I hung right along side it. He could not leave me and I could not leave him. And factor in the 17+ thousand dollars I have in my Duster and this car was more than worth the money. Even though the Duster will outrun and outhandle the 'Balt by a mile, I still love my Cobalt.

That doesn't really count as a win.

BTW, yes I love my Cobalt!

Yeah, I take "win" quite liberally, but he never caught back up with me. I guess the win is all in the racing you do.
