Cobalt LS is it really worthless?
to the OP
I have had a few used parts without any problems.
They are a great choice for someone like you. They are way cheaper and same result.
Check the classified ads on here for used parts. Also, check the 2.0 to 2.2 swappable parts sticky under the 2.2L performance section.

lol ya i can see that..ya got the blue i got the red..that's awesome..
I mean i know i have to do alot more to the car and i tend to spend alot of money on this car. i got the car for 10k and it only had 21k miles on it ( which i know wasn't that bad at all ) So i know i can take it somewhere. There is so much i can do i just really don't know where to go after the Air Filter.

Here's what I did
Make a spreadsheet of everything you think you want
Find prices and put them in the sheet.
Then go through and figure out what fits your budget and get to buying.
There are tons of good companies to buy from.
CrateEngineDepot
Turbo Tech Racing
All Ecotec
Also, once you get the parts you want, make sure to finish with a tune from trifecta

I luv my LS. For me, people who buy LS's are folks who like to build/work on their cars. SS folks are buying everything in one package, fast right out of the getgo. I like to spend time working on my car. Everytime you buy a new part, you look at your car in a different way. You never get borred of it.

Most of the SS folks on this site, enjoy making their car faster.
The SS is just a better starting platform.
And its a money saver.
But I would say stock vs. modded SS's on this site, the modded SS's take a huge win.
Hell, when I bought mine, I had the intake waiting on my doorstep the day I bought the car.

yeah that statement was dumb.
The LS is made for a far different crowd, great gas mileage and grocery getting. I have one and accept that fact.
The SS/SC is for the mod crowd, hence the better aftermarket

it's all what you make of it.. you can do the hackabuse route.. full bolt ons nitrous and a tune and be set .. or you can go turbo, full n/a build with cams..
all the ecotec line has potential ..it's just the amount of love and money you wanna put towards it..
you need to figure out how far you want to go and how fast you want it to be

Yea my car was used but still i love it. I might go with the both. I want to try and go twin turbo if it is possible. Seein the engine bay kind of upsets me tho. It's so small and it seems like i can't do anything. Like my lil brother he is a 99 Miata and he has so much more room.
As for both the LS or SS i love them both ya know they have an equal amount of advantages and disadvantage from what i am reading. the love of the car is all that matters right?

Ryuk, heres the main thing mate. Your budget. As everyone says your car can go as fast as your wallet makes it. A twin turbo setup would cost you so much money in custom fabrication that it just isn't worth it.
What do you plan on doing with the car? Daily driver im assuming? I am guessing you want a nice reliable fun fast daily driver. With that being said, define fast? 16s, 15s, 14s, 13s, 12s, 11s, 10s, 9s?
If you want a decently fast car i suggest doing the following. Go with your cold air intake, full exhaust, suspension mods and then come back with some 1/4mile numbers and let us know if you want to go faster.
After the basics, it can get extremely expensive. Look at my mod list, trust me mate, it isnt cheap.

Don't encourage any teenager to get a turbocharged car or turbocharge their car...turbo lag is a surefire way to increase that lack of judgement and/or superman complex.
But on topic...yeah the ls is a dog but if you're under 19-21 that's exactly what you should be driving unless you paid for it yourself.
Yeah and he'll pull one of those flippin m3 maneuvers (see jalopnik)...teenagers + fast cars + lack of judgement/responsibility + superman complex=death to driver, occupants, and likely others.

the only people i knew who crashed their cars byt ehir own fault were bad drivers, not kids with fast cars. i know a lot more teenagers with civics/explorers/acura's than i do kids with mercedes/lexus/bmws that got in accidents.
The LS has lots of potential for practically anything. After my tune i am getting 36-38mpg hwy and i have performance as well
Ok so its all i have other than the headlights and the antenna but my car is geared more toward a show car rather than performance. It all depends on what goal your trying to get to!
i luv my LS too, all i have is injen CAI and was running 16.3's when i went to the dragstrip last. i plan on doing 2.4l mani, full exhaust, and then tune. and thats bout as far as im going. maybe lowered also.
*btw, i got an auto too* clone of lschik's car =D
