Exclamation Cobalt SS/SC shipping

Guys, I just talked to my dealer and he told me that their alloted Cobalt SS/sc has been released to shipping. Being they are located about 4 hours from the factory and on a major shipping route I expect to see it soon. Every dealer is alloted (1) SS/sc. So, if these are release the ordered cars should follow shortly after (I WANT MINE NOW ). I would also like to comment about the lack of SS/sc on the factory lot as stated in other forums. Maybe Banshee1016 can verify this, but the car carrier drivers are saying that are multible SS/sc on the lot there, maybe these are the alloted dealer cars and they need enough for each dealer on the lot before they release them. Also as a side note, I asked him about the letters GM is sending out to the people that preordered a Cobalt. His reponse was he has not heard anything in that regard.

GM Release

GM and Chevrolet in particular has done something very similar with all of their "Launch" vehicles. They build a set number of a particular vehicle, whether it's a Cobalt SS or an SSR/Corvette/Colorado/etc. to make sure everything is kosher (see headlamps) and then they simply divide whatever they produced by the number of dealerships and every dealer gets the same number, typically between 1 and 3. After that the specific dealers allocation kicks in and the ones they produce aftewards are based on allocation and pre-orders.

Just my 2 cents

If this is true, it's great news...

Every dealer is alloted (1) SS/sc.
A little under a month ago I was up at my local dealership waiting on an oil change and happened to sit down and talk with the Sales Manager. He told me that I was the ONLY one who had a Cobalt SS Supercharged on order. Maybe more people have ordered since I was up there, but if the allocation of ONE Cobalt SS Supercharged per dealer info is true, that ONE better be MINE.

The allocated SS/sc is not alloted for personal orders. This car is distrubuted as a sale model. Any personal orders are to follow the allocation to the dealers.

That's total BS!

I placed my order on AUGUST 10th and have been WAITING all this time, why in God's name should some punk be able to walk into the dealership where I have mine on order and get one before me, technically, the first person in line?

It could depend on things like the color or any options that you ordered.

I agree, it BS But the dealerships can look at it this way though.... if they sell the car any replacement for that car goes at the end of the order list, and they will not have a SS/sc on the lot for months and that counter productive to sales

As I have heard they are supposed to be contacting all the pre-order people about their intentions to still purchase the car and confirming the free bees we got as part of pre ordering. Maybe it's this confirmation thats holding up the pre-orders. I know it's still LAME but it could be a contributing cause. I will also be the case if thats the case, but I can't see them shipping the S/C already. I know my dealer only got one base sedan and is looking to get a couple sometime soon. They are off the beaten path a bit so I think they are a week or two behind the bigger dealers.

if u notice with every car the dealership will get at least one in before they start selling them so that they can get firmiliar with the car and give test drives for people who want to order one

but yeah guys i know what you mean...when we first got our first ssr, we gave the guy that bought it a small discount to let us keep it in the showroom for a lil while longer so customers could come by and see it...
