DIY powdercoating?
DIY powdercoating?
Anyone try the DIY kits before? Ive been doing some research and it doesnt cost much to get a kit. Found a kit featured on My Classic Car for 100.00 bucks. Craigslist oven 100.00 and powder starts around 14.99 for 8 ounces. Any one have any input on this?

Sub'd. I like to hear this also. I'd like to get it if its worth it. I want to paint my wheels, but not want spray can cheapo paint. Plus, this would be good to have around just in case.
my bro has it and it works great on our ATV and motorcycle parts. never done wheels. our oven isnt to big, but we've done pegs, levers, nerfbars and even my HMF exhaust and its all held up super well. he got the eastwood hotcoats gun with powder starter kit. i deff suggest it. once i find a bigger oven im gonna do my wheels.
Thats the same kit I was wanting to get. I'm looking to do my wheels and some other parts on the balt as well as my 08 cbr 600 rr and my 69 camaro. So it will definatly get used. Well stay tuned in a few weeks I'll post up some pics.
Negative on the DA sander unless you want your powder flaking off in a couple of months. Sandblasting is a must in order to get a good "tooth" in the material
