EPS Good or Bad?

So I worked with the company Koyo who builds your power steering EPS parts for your automobile. For all I know, we were the first to build EPS. What do you guys think? I have built most of your cars steering systems/my line has. I moved with the company so I am not there anymore but tell me what you think then I will tell you some dirty secrets behind your EPS's. EPS = Electronic Power Steering (There is a computer between your rack and pinion and your steering wheel...

My only complaint is not feeling the tires sometimes right before you slide into cars/houses...

Yeah, it has a very "dead" feeling. Definitely not enough feedback from the road. Noticed that out on the track, you really couldn't feel what the car was doing in the turns as well as you should.

most of the people who build your steering systems (80%+) smoke weed before work, on lunch and any break they can. about 40% do coke at work on a regular basis, if they have any left from staying up all night partying. A smaller percent 5% maybe, smoke crack at work (mostly line leaders and final inspectors) About 5% of us, er them, have tripped while building parts. oh yeah and if the hexnut or OBJ doesn't get on very smooth, we hit it with a wrench to smooth out the threads... and most processes involving checking the part are skipped for time reasons... just wanted to let you all know! I dont work at that facility anymroe

Mine shut down on me the other night. Got out of work, hoped in the car to go home and there was no power steering until half way home. Later found out that becuase I parked with the wheels turned and remote started the car the EPS overheaded and shut itself off. Freaked me out until the dealership said it was ok.

Hmm, pretty much sounds like the typical shop staffed by the UAW.

And that's why domestics have bad quality compared to imports

P.S. Another reason that I don't believe in unions

Tell me more! I want to figure out if I can put the steering system into a Cavalier (97). I am most concern about the CAN signals, if I plug the 97 Cav's CAN into the Koyo EPS computer, does it work? You probably are asking what am I doing? I am building an electric drive Cavalier and need energy efficient power steering...ala the Cobalt. I know I need to use the Cobalt rack as well and will need to make some body mods to fit in the column.
