The cruze is crap... if your looking for performance... Hell the LT cobalt is crap if your looking for performance but all I was looking for was an 8 second 0-60 which is about what I get... so I can't complain... Still want to turbo mine when I get the chance... when the car's title is acually mine though...
Low pressure non performance turbo systems don't interest me...you know what I meant :p The damn thing is ***** slow.

I test drove a Corolla, Civic, Sentra, etc. They were nice cars but noticeably slower. Actually the Corolla and Sentra were boring as hell. My 2.2 has good pickup for a base engine and I really wouldn't call my car crap. 155hp/150lbs is pretty damn good for an entry level car.. Even the base Cruze is slow- might be cushy and pretty inside but slow as hell- why they didn't give it at least the same power as my 'balt I don't know (or care- the thing is wayyy overpriced).

As far as the SS... it's an animal and would kick any sports compact's ass. No contest.

You could have found a better example...I'm fairly certain the Evo doesn't sit on the same chassis as the regular lancers do.

Oh i don't disagree one bit... for what it is... a 2.2 L I4 DOHC its a great engine... but it too is slow... if you've driven a V6 malibu... which does a 0-60 in 6ish seconds the last 4 years of your life... lol

Hell, I beat v8 trucks all the time just cuz of the weight advantage I have... it is the best base engine out there at the time and still likely is... its why i picked it otherwise I wouldn't have said I was looking for a 0-60 around 8 seconds... but imo 8 seconds is slow too... and anything slower is just unacceptable...

So I guess I should have said its crap compaired to the SS or equivalent...

It is however much better than the old 3100 v6 lumina I had in 98... that thing was a dog... smooth as hell but at only 10 seconds for a 0-60... well u get the idea...

edit: The v6 malibu is a monster... that thing litterally ate anything... well normal that is... lol... and those who thought it had the 4 banger in it where often surprised when they seen me pass right past them... easy...

My wifes malibu is a sleeper for sure ..... i walked a 2.4 cobalt SS pretty bad . Car and driver went 14.9 with one lol.

If you think back to the older Z24's they were only 150hp and people thought they were quick .....i had an 02 with a 2.4 quad4 and it was snappy......so the base balt cant be too bad .

The Malibu is an awesome car- it' a mid-size. It's peppy as hell. If your car is a 6 second car my 8 second car would pale in comparison. 8 seconds is quick enough for me- I don't know the time on the base Civic or Corolla but the Corolla felt slow as hell next to my car. Even when floored- I thought the motor would blow. It's quiet but that's about it.
