Question GM "Hot Button"

So, I wonder if this will apply to any of us waiting for our SS/SC to arrive in a couple of weeks? An add'l $1,000 on top of the $1,000 cash allowance? Anyone have any thoughts? Push the OnStar button at the dealer! Small print says you are "eligible to receive" the cash. I will ask my rep. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/050405/gm_giveaway.html?.v=2 This one too! http://www.autoblog.com/category/chevy

Most likely the factory orders won't because they're already "sold" just not delivered. So I would say no. I don't know why GM is doing this again, it didn't boost sales last year. I predict the same result this year.

Wait...so you get $1000 just for going in and pressing the button? It's not like the extra $1000 is a prize for say 5,000 people that participate in the contest? If that's true, seems like now is a better time than ever to go order my SS. The $1000 hot button and $1000 cash back would pay for the Performance package and tax/title/license. Sounds good to me .

It didn't say (read carefully) you WILL get the $1,000, it says you are "eligible". I bet it means that you would have to purchase a car with OnStar to get the $1,000. That's probably the gig. I will learn more. But yes, there is already the $1,000 from Chevrolet. Right on! 10 more days and counting I hope!

No the "Hot Button" deal is you go into a dealer, test drive a car, listen to the salesmans speel, push the onstar button. If the onstar guy says you win. You get that car for FREE

Actually you would be intitled to any rebates that are currently going on when you sign your paperwork and take delivery. Although my car is ordered, its technically not mine yet till its transfered over to my name. If you paid for your car and signed the papers before the order thats different though.

I was referring to the giveaway, contest normally whatever rebates are available at time of delivery you would be entitled to. However there are shady dealers that will say that you "Locked in" your price at the time of ordering so tough nails. If there was an agreement signed that locked in the price, then the customer has little to no recourse.

Geeze! The contest is "IF YOU WIN, YOU WIN ONE OF 1,000 CARS!" Just by pushing the button, you are "ELIGIBLE" for $1,000 towards the purchase of new GM Car. Ya'll should be reading closer. Be sure to read BOTH listings. SIMPLE! I got it the first time I read it!

1000

Yea if u read it u do get 1000 towards a new 2004 or 2005 car or truck, they had the GM hot button couple months a go and didn't get quite the turnout they wanted, and they got a lot of info from customers and dealerships to offer incentives if u don't actually win, so i think 1000 off just to push a button is a smart move, who knows, could win a new car, but guaranteed 1000 off, good move GM

Final Word on Hot Button Rebate

Ok I spoke to a GM rep last night. The 1,000 rebate on the Cobalt SS is the hotbutton rebate. So you only get $1,000 off not $2,000...I wish I could get $2,000 off that would have been nice

Okay. Thanks for checking. I knew it would probably be too good to be true. That's okay. I'm still getting a good deal and 3.49% finan.

so there is a $1000 rebate, and an automatic extra grand from pressing the button? and maybe you win a free car?? which would make a 2000 rebates now????

That's what I was thinking. BUT, there is the already $1,000 cash allowance from GM (not including the Hot Button thing). The Hot Button makes you "eligible" for $1,000. Doesn't say you automatically get it, or everyone would be getting it. I think the catch on that would be that you have to buy a car with On Star and then you would get the $1,000. Making your rebates $2,000, other it would just be original $1,000. You don't even have to test drive the car. But, who cares if you do. Test drive another cobalt w/On Star! Anywho, hopefully counting down 9 days til my SS/SC gets here! Then I can tell all how much I got in rebates.

Unfortunently thats not the way it works.I've spoken to 3 dealerships now and they are all telling me the same thing. All cobalt's whether it be SS or LS, LT, base have only 1,000 in rebates currently. I don't think its right either but that is still what I am being told. I will continue asking though, maybe I can reach someone higher up

This last message is correct. There is at least $1000 in rebates on every vehicle GM sells with OnStar. This is the $1000 that they are talking about.

It's not an allowance, it's a rebate. There is a difference. And no matter how high up you go, they're gonna tell you the same thing.

It's a contract, and it it listed plainly on both the GM website and on paper at your dealership. It has nothing to do with "nice" or "fair" or whatever you want to call it.

It's a promotion to get you into the door where a salesperson will attempt to sell you a car.

That's it.
