Goodbye LNF
Yeah, I honestly believe its how you drive the car that will determine what you should use and how often to change it. You cant have a cookie cutter and just say 'these are the guidelines that everyone should use when it comes to oil changes' cause not everyone drives the same.
Pics of the Maxima yet???

Honestly, I have no clue lol I dont pay attention to that thing as I believe its only based on mileage. Ill go though 2 oil changes in six mo before that thing even hits 20% lol
Regardless of how long you think oil may last, it gets contaminated by the combustion process and gasoline itself. Unless your filter can remove gasoline, you're allowing a solvent and an oil to mix unnecessarily. I've had this conversation with more people than I'd like to admit, but...
I've been putting in more engines at the dealership in the last few years then I ever did in years past. They've all been with customers with 7500 mile or longer oil change intervals. The ones that get done in 3-4k miles don't have issues.

Cool. Like I said, I dont claim to know how it works. I still dont go by it. And again, i repeat what I said earlier, there is no cookie cutter to this oil thing. Back when I was stock when I did my oil change every 4mo or so, on avg the oil still looked a litle light. Once I started modding and got tuned and started driving her harder I noticed the oil was pretty dark at the same oil change interval so thats when I change dit up. to me its not a waste of money. I can clearly see that the oil has broken down quite a bit when I do the oil change hence I do it more often now. Thats all, were just sharing our experience and how we handle our own vehicles
Well the Maxima isnt gonna happen because of the notorious trans problems they have in the 6th gens so i got into a 06 Avalon Limited for which they wanted 4K more but let me have at the same price. Going to get her in 40 min straight from work. Ill snap some pics and try to post them up tomorow from work since i dont sit on here at home.
i think its a little better. Has less miles, better resale and no problems with it lol. My girl actually has one and now with 95K on the clock no issies at all. Just routine oil changes and brakes thats it.
I do know that the 06's had some sort of issue some oil lines leaking. For some reason they were manyfactured with hoses and they revised them later to either hard lines or steel braided, cant remember. Something to look into.
I think the Avalon is a heck of a better deal. Nissan in general has gotten pretty junky IMO. Going from a Nissan to a Toyota in the deal you got, that is definitely a win-win especially since it's already ready to be picked up.
Yeah picked it up yesterday and love it. Someone older had to own it cus the sunroof button felt like it was never touched and the leather is in prestine condition. I got her insured this morning and getting it tinted Monday.
Youre right theyre not. Japaneese isnt perfection at all. Look at the GT-R trans lol. I just have a slightly bitter taste in my mouth after what i went through with the HHR.
Ya I have to agree that Japanese cars aren't the end all car, but what is. Definitely out of the deal I would rather a Toyota over a Nissan. What was the mileage on the Nissan and what are the miles on the Toyota? It's kinda weird to think of Nissan as being crappy as Chrysler was back in the late 80s early 90s.

Nissan had 85K Toyota had exactly 73100 and the maxima had cloth seats basically base model the avalon has leather heated/cooled seats, heated mirrors with blinkers in them and a spotlight for nighttime, and this cool visor thing that covers the back window which rolls up with the touch of a button.
Most dealerships now a days aren't willing to budge on stuff but looks like you found a good.
Yeah the guy i dealt with use to be my old boss, we still talk to this day and they take care of people good over there. Im happy with the end result
