I'd probably skip out and get a WRX.

it is a different track but that doesn't change the fact that there will be a bigger gap on a 13 mile track between a good driver and a pro driver when compared to the gap on a 1.8 mile track.

a pro driver isn't just a title. a pro driver makes a living as a driver so he spends much more time driving than an amateur experienced driver. I'm not the only one with that opinion. many people have commented on the fact that GM doesn't let professional drivers set the times.

yea, these new fast autos (like the one in the Evo) are always a big turn off for me because of track reliability and maintenance cost

You could make a 1/4 mile road track and have a miata beat a viper because there is no room for the viper to use its huge power advantage. It would be total opposite on a larger high speed track.

I just don't think a pro driver in an unfamiliar car is going to make a big difference over a hugely experienced amateur on a track he has tons of experience on. If they were racing on unfamiliar tracks in unfamiliar cars or lots of them sure a pro would have a large advantage.

all cars have potential but when you do your own customizing you can sometimes do more damage than good

using your logic of Miata vs Viper on 1/4 mile track, are you suggesting that the FWD Cobalt SS won on the shorter track (VIR) because it's slightly quicker in the corners than the AWD Evo but on the longer track (Nurburgring), the Evo would gain the advantage back because its has more power and torque?

I'm not sure why you keep saying unfamiliar car. Do you think that time was the first time the driver has been in an Evo? Plus, how long is a car "unfamiliar" for? A pro driver only needs a few laps to get familiar. The Stig on Top Gear doesn't spend days with each car and he still posts quicker times than TG presenters, or most other drivers for that matter.

It's probably due to the tmw short shifter listed in your mods. Get a TWM.

the evo is a better car overall no doubt. better platform for power and definately faster in the 1/4. as for long stretches, i think plenty of war stories have confirmed that an evo is slower than an SS/TC on an open stretch so i fail to see how the SS/TC couldn't beat an EVO on a track like the ring. that being said the EVO may have an advantage coming out of corners so who knows. both are very capable cars and are able to beat each other with the right circumstances.. bang for the buck.. cobalt... nicer car? evo.. i'll try both stock on forza 4 when i get it and let yas know! LOL

Meh, I would like a new Evo but honestly I do not want the payment.

OP, your list of fail mods is the reason your car sucks. Take it back to stock and then figure out if the problem is your car or your mods.

House with a helipad? That's badass.

I really can't say I blame you, it was something I considered as well. They're nowhere near as fast as a Balt, but they're still sport, are very nice to drive, and are pretty comfortable as well.
