Headroom
Hey, my first post on the forum.
Anyways my question is, when I sat in the Cobalt SS at the Detroit Autoshow last month I also sat in the backseat. I read in the other forum post "bigger or smaller" in Appearance that there is more interior volume in the Cobalt then in the Cavy.
I own a 98 Cav z24 and when I sit in the rear I have decent headroom. When I sat in the back of the Cobalt I felt like it lost a 1-2"'s of headroom. I had to tilt my neck so my short spiky hair and head wouldn't get in the way of the roof. Isn't the Cobalt 2"'s higher overall? Sure if I buy the car I won't be sitting in the back and I'm the tallest out of my friends (6' 2-3") but what happened to all the rear headroom?
Out of curiousity I checked how much wheel gap there was. 3 of myfingers in front 4 in the back. I lowered my car and it's 2 fingers front 2 1/2 fingers back. Definitely have to lower it a bit too.
Good to be here.

I, too drive a Cavalier and had a chance to sit in the Cobalt SS S/C car at our local auto show. I made a point to sit in the back seat and the Cobalt is definitely a tighter fit. I'm about 6' tall so I didn't notice a problem with headroom, but legroom is another story. I felt very cramped back there. A friend that went with me sat in the front while I was in the back. He slid his front seat back and literally crushed my ankles. Ouch! I probably won't be hanging out back there much anyway.
The front seats felt very comfortable, though, for me.

I was also disappointed with how the Recaros didn't have the switch to flip and roll the seat forward in 1 motion. Where as the Blue LT? that was beside it at NAIAS on the regular seats did have that. I hate if I have to sit in the back of my friends car because the seat doesn't go forward unless you select both the folding forward and sliding forward separately. It might not seem like much but that extra hassle is really annoying.
I guess that's part of the compromise of getting the more racing-oriented seats. The lack of back seat room and folding seats is a bit of a pain for me, but then again I'm hoping that I won't have to pack a lot of people into the car that often.
